Basically this group in the Netherlands have devised a plan and strategy for going to Mars in 2023 , there plan to me seems just ridiculous , scary even.

The thing that scares me is , anyone can just apply to be on the team that goes to Mars , there's a reason NASA won't just let anyone in , it's because it can't , You must do years and years of training as an Astronaut , usually some experience in the Air Force is good too , I worry these people will mess up on the way and cause some dreadful tragedy.

( I'm aware that they will be giving them some years of training before they go on the trip , but still I'm concerned )

Anyway , apparently I read somewhere the team on Mars are going to be filmed around the clock by cameras and sent back for a Reality Tv show about it.

Here's there plan.

2013 - Start Crew selection

2015 - Start of Crew training

2016 - Demo & Comsat mission's. ( Basically they will send a lander and a Satellite to Mars to prove that there capable of doing this kind of thing )

2018 - Rover and Second Satellite launched

2020 - Cargo Missions launched

2021 - Outpost operational

2022 - Departure of Crew One

2023 - Arrival of Crew One.

From then on they wish the continue sending people to the outpost to make it a continuous presence over the years until they wish to say otherwise.

I just don't see this happening... But if it does , I will be shining in honour knowing that ordinary people can do stuff like this.

What do You think about it?

I find this kind of story exciting but I don't have enough knowledge to judge if it's realistic or ridiculous. I honestly can't imagine someone landing on Mars safely in 10 years from now.

Hmm I'm starting to doubt this as a real possibility, if You look on there website they've delayed putting Humans on Mars in 2024 now.

Just another pipe dream :(
