Here's a little background: Akicon, which is a for-profit con of bootleg merchandise fraud, bilking and abusing their artist’s alley, and booking guests with a sexual harassment history and covering for their assaults. I have gone from 2010-2 (when it was in Bellevue, which is east of Seattle), but did not attend in 2013 because of cost/distance issues (it was held in SeaTac, south of Seattle, and my brother Danny couldn't attend with me). Anyway, Akicon Management had hired Leslie Burt Shotwell (DJ Victor Malice) a felon convicted of: Sexual Assault of a minor, drugging, and rape. (http://mugshots.com/US-Counties/Arizona ... 25300.html) He was been hired by management since 2011-2013. By doing so, they have endangered countless convention attendee's. In 2013 Akicon management ignored warnings from countless convention go-ers about Shotwell being a felon with rape charges, and led to another convention attendee getting drugged and raped by Shotwell. When she reported the assault to Akicon Management, they called her a liar and defended Shotwell. Later Management tried to cover their tracks by stating: "We can't help what happens in private hotel rooms."

I am just in shock over these revelations. Anime cons, for me, are a fun place to be, but if stuff like this occuring, and con management denies anything going on, then something is VERY wrong. I am personally glad I did NOT attend AkiCon this year, in retrospect. This, I just..... it makes my blood boil, stuff like this.

Sound off, but keep it civil.

Bumping this up; I have lost a facebook friend because she still refuses to believe me that AkiCon handled the situation above poorly. She's lying to me.

She's not lying, she's stating her beliefs.

Why was this Shotwell character free to work anywhere, instead of being in jail for the first (reported) assault?

Why are the second (known) victim's parents not suing Shotwell, Akicon, and everyone else connected?

I would.

I Googled this creep....he was convicted, and served four years for the first (?) assault.

Why are the media not all over this?

We've been trying to let local media in Seattle know about this.

Have the parents of the victim sued Akicon?

Could they?

I would imagine that tort lawyers would be salivating.

That much I am not sure, but probably, if I had to guess.

In this case, my (now ex-)friend is in the wrong, even at that.
