I kind of like the fact that this guy did what he did. He took a very basic body function that most people used to (and many still do) revile as sickening, and turned it into entertainment. I find it quite interesting that he had the control that he did over the muscles in his body. While most films are obviously reproductions, it gives us a general idea of what he may have been like. The only other flatulist that I have seen was on youtube.com, and while entertaining, I don't think that Mr. Methane has the same degree of control or skill that la petomaine did. Let me know what you think about this odd entertainer from our past.

Not really my cup of tea, but just goes to show, success isn't always where you might expect it to be. And to think, so many Aspies trying so desperately hard to develop skills so they may be accepted, when all they really need to do is learn to fart on cue. It's probably still a good thing that they didn't have take your children to work day back then though.

Just a thought. You know how some turtles can breathe under water? I wonder if he ever tried it. It's a wonder the military haven't researched into that one. It could be useful.

It might be funny in the world of "Idiocracy".

Idiocracy is all a point of view pete. Honestly, the fact that he could do that fascinates me, whether or not I agree with the fact that he could. It goes to show that human beings, when bound and determined to do something, will always find a way to make it happen. It is that indomitable spirit, and my hope that kindness in humanity is not lost that keeps me going. I like to see differing viewpoints, but making a not so veiled stab at people because a comment was misunderstood, there was miscommunication, or one did not try to verify exactly WHAT the person was trying to say is what makes me lose that small amount of hope. If I have misunderstood anyone's comment on this one, please explain. If I mistook any comment as a slight at my intelligence I apologize. If it was however, then keep the comments to yourself next time.

I was referring to the movie.
Ok, so I come off as rude, but I find flatulence humor to be extremely childish.

I think it's hilarious! Good for Joseph Pujol that he could make a good nickel off a talent like that!

Well, I think it took a lot of guts, both figurative and literal, for the guy to try making breaking wind his profession. Love it or hate it, we all pass gas, some more loudly than others, and anybody who says otherwise is deluding him or herself, and somehow, inexplicably, breaking wind tends to be funny.

Me? Childish or not, I prefer to plug my nose and laugh instead of criticize when the fartistes of the world float an air biscuit that rattles the windows, sets off the gas leak alarms, and flushes commodes for blocks around, for we could all use a good laugh in this day and age, and like it or not, toilet humor's not going away anytime soon.

I think farting humour is the best kind of humour.

Eh. I think I'll pass.

When I lived in L.A., performance artists used to place photos of their bloody work up on the walls in libraries and elsewhere. Those pictures were gross. Till this day I don't understand how self-pain like that is art. Driving needles and spikes through your body in the name of art? I don't know...
