Yes, I'm one of those people who think it's overrated.

I've come across bad movies and have enjoyed them.
I wouldnt classify this as bad, but I just cant help but question the judgement of anyone over the age of 18, even 16 who found it entertaining.
Its just so cheesy and corny and poorly written. I dont see how you could be an adult and find it amusing, its so junior high.

It would have been a good made for nickelodeon/disney channel friday night movie.

ok, now for the uncensored version. That above post was so BS, i cant pretend to be nice about it lol.

It was probably the most awful movie i have ever seen. It is god-awfully over acted, the writting is at best at home in a sunday morning public access show and, good god, it just sucked all kinds bad.

Seriously, go pick up some Anne Rice people who even, for one second, thought one positive thing about that movie

:D

Vampire romance seems to be the hot thing nowadays. Take a look at the book racks in your local supermarket, there's zillions of very adult vampire porn novels. Twilight is vampire porn for 15 year olds. Don't think that many of them aren't reading the really racy stuff. In many cases, it's likely that girls are hiding adult novels behind their Twilight copies, in the same way that teen boys used to hide Playboy behind Car and Driver until the internet came along.

I'd love to write a story about a vampire brothel, where wealthy women come to have their sex-with-vampires fantasies fulfilled. For a price, a woman can even have her blood totally drained, ecstasy before death. Of course, there are the sole prostitutes in the surrounding town, who are willing to fulfill a woman's every single vampire fantasy, illegally. The challenge for the chief of police is to make it look like he's investigating the deaths, while turning a blind eye to the business that provides the town's tax base.

Come on ladies, are we real guys so bad that you have to turn to novels and BOBs to get satisfied? Any guy can satisfy a woman, it's a learned skill. My high school GF used to call porn hotlines. Why would she do that, when she wouldn't go all the way with me? She never gave me a straight answer. Look ladies, there are plenty of hot guys out here in reality. Sure, we're not vampires or billionaires or guerrilla fighters, but we are real. Give us a chance, will ya?

I haven't seen the film to legitimately say whether or not I'd hate it, but I agree that it's ridiculously overhyped, just like Beyonce, The Jonas Brothers and The Hills. :x

I can't stand the movie, but the books are okay. Even though they're not that well written, there's something addicting about them :P

I have not read the books or watched the movies yet but it does not sound like something I am interested in.

I found this summary some of you might be interested in reading :)

I liked the book and some parts of the movie.

Some of the melodramtic acting and special effects were very overrated imo.

But there were other aspects in the movie I liked...not sure what they were exactly...:?

A lot of my mom's lunch lady friends are into it, LOL.
She was like "They're all reading this romance book and they keep talking about it" And I was like "Is it Twilight?" Of course it was Twilight. It's like a disease. It spread from the kids to the school staff. Soon it will move up the ladder and infiltrate the government through lonely female politicians. We should be watching the president for signs of sparkling within the next year or two.

I loathe the Twilight series,
although I have the hots for Stephanie Meyer
who wrote the books.

Meyer wrote "The Host" after finishing the Twilight novels. I don't like novels, but The Host sounded interesting. In the novel, humanity has been conquered by aliens, who have taken over the bodies and forced the original occupants out. A small group of rebels is trying to avoid the fate. One of the rebels gets captured and her head filled with an alien, but she (the original occupant) refuses to leave. So there are two people inhabiting her body, and they start to get confused as to who is who. The Host has been lost in all the Twilight hoopla, but it's a far more interesting concept. Meyer seems destined to be known as the author of Twilight. Who remembers Dan Brown's first novel, after all? (Digital Fortress, BTW.)

Nancy Pelosi sending a marriage proposal to the hunky young actor, whatshisname. 8O 8O I just read in a tabloid that he gets a dozen proposals a DAY via the internet, from all over the world. Sheesh kiddies, pay some attention to the hot guy next to you in class, you know the guy who is really smart but a little weird. How come women always want what they can't have? Ever looked at personals on Craigslist? The people are really bottom of the barrel, but the fat men want a porn star and the "BBW" women want Fabio. The women especially have huge diva egos, I can't see how men stand them. It seems that the same ones post over and over too. The women who get all hot over vampires and sorcerers are the worst. Come on, vampires are NOT REAL, get over it! They're just setting themselves up for failure, they will NEVER get a vampire because there's no such thing as a vampire, so they reject all the actual guys and pine for some actor. Sheesh. It's incredible.

I read the books and saw the movie out fo sheer morbid curiosity. The movie was so bad I found it hysterically funny. The books infuriated me. Edward is basically your textbook abusive spouse. The fact that he is being emulated as the perfect proverbial boyfriend horrifies me.

The only vampire chronicles I like are done by an author Anne Rice: Interview with the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Memnoch the Devil, The Tale of the Body Thief...etc.

She's also done chronicles of the Mayfair Witches. Sometimes the stories overlap eachother...so the vampire chronicles aren't complety seperate from the Mayfair chronicles which I find interesting. You run into a character from another one of her books that isn't really part of the story.

Except I think I like her books because they're a little on the sleazy side. But I find her stories excellent just like old mystery books. She paints beautifully vivid scenes concerning the settings and time frames.

I'll have to warn you though, she can get pretty wordy and it's probably not something you kiddies "should" read even though I have.... 8)
