I am going to get anther parrot - more detailed post here: viewtopic.php?t=362250

I would like opinions on names for the parrot. Because I will get the parrot in about 1 year he/she is not hatched (born) yet so I do not know the sex, so unisex names or male names are preferred. My current parrot's name is Sammy (he is male). This is how my new parrot will look: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... ray-8d.jpg

The name I have in mind right now is Andy.

All suggestions are appreciated!

Thank you!

(This relates to autism as I am autistic and parrots are my special interest)

I desperately want to get an African grey and our current top name is Antigone or Tig for short.

If it has to be more unisex....

Hmmm.... I'll have to think.

Edited to add: Sammy is gorgeous. Will he get jealous to share you do you think? Me and my two children are so desperate for a parrot but we go to America every summer and it seems unfair to find a second home for him/her in the summer especially as they are so sensitive to change and if you get them harness trained and so forth all that might be undone by the time we get back. I need to find another parrot lover near me to even think of making it possible!

Since he/she will be an "African Gray":

Christian Gray (if its a boy)

Dakota Johnson (if its a girl).

Or just call the bird the gender neutral "Fifty Shades".

Davis.

Sammy Davis Jr

Then, if Davis is a girl, , and there is a third parrot you can call it Junior.

If you aren't an experienced parrot owner I would strongly suggest against getting an African Grey, as they are quite difficult. Sammy is a Jardine and they are very nice. You should consider getting a Jardine. They are quite intelligent (Sammy can talk and do tricks) and aren't as susceptible to change as African Greys.

And he will no doubt get jealous. It is natural. I have once left Sammy with my mother for 3,5 weeks when I was on holiday. I skyped with him, but I did miss him very much. He missed me, too. If I am away from him more than 3 days he will act happy when I arrive home, poop on my shoulder and proceed to ignore me for the rest of the day. After that he is back to normal.
