Is there anyone here, besides me, that enjoys the nuclear war film genre.

I have had a liking for nuclear war movies since I was 11 or so. The only one that sucked was "Wargames".

Others I saw and liked:

1) Threads
2) The War Game (BBC nuclear war docudrama)
3) Testament
4) The Day After
5) Red Dawn (Only related in background as the prelude to attack)
6) Sum of All Fears (nuclear explosion and nuclear war close call)
7) Thirteen Days (nuclear war averted)

That's all I can think of at the moment. Anyone know of any others?

I also enjoy the television series "24" on FOX and "Jericho" on CBS.

You failed to list Dr. Strangelove.

I did forget to like Dr. Strangelove ...or...How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

It's one of my favourite movies actually. I don't know how it slipped my mind...

I do! I also enjoy watching old recordings of nuclear explosions, though I suppose that doesn't count.

What about the 1964 movie, "Fail-Safe"?

S1lenze,

I do too. I even have on a DVD archive old nuclear tests and civil defense reels from the 1950's and 60's.

I actually didn't see the 1964 version of Fail Safe but if it is ANYTHING like the 2000 remake with Brian Dennehy, it sucks!

Not a nuclear war movie, but I found Syriana very intriguing.

i like watching nuclear bombs going off. whats the difference between a hydrogen bomb and an atom bomb? wich ones more powerful? also i read somewhere about a bomb theyve created that only destroys flesh, not structures. whats that all about and whats it called?

I believe "The Day After" was a TV movie. I remember "Wargamers," I enjoyed it, but I was like eight.

I liked "The Day After," mainly because I got to see Steve Guttenberg's face deteriorate, sort of like what happened to his career after the eighties ended.

Hydrogen bombs are much more powerful. Hydrogen bombs are actually nuclear bombs, but they utilize a different structure and effect. H-bombs are capable of destroying entire small islands, and because they are so powerful you are less likely to find them being used unless the situation is incredibly desperate.

Oh, at the end of Terminator 3 they have a nuclear exchange, although it's self-sabotage by Skynet, not a war.

And that wasn't even the best part of the movie.

Yeah, Threads is a damn powerful piece of British television. I thought The Day After was a bit weak, War Game being rather dated and slightly dull.

A Boy And His Dog - can't believe nobody's mentioned this. Guess I'm getting old.
