I like to do birthday threads for each of the original Kinks.

Today's a special day for me, because it's the birthday of my favourite member of my favourite band. Mick Avory joined The Kinks in the January of 1964 about a month before he turned 20. He was a member from 1964 through to 1984. The Kinks are known for songs such as 'You Really Got Me', All Day and All Of The Night', 'Tired of Waiting For You', Well Respected Man', Dedicated Follower of Fashion', 'Sunny Afternoon' and 'Lola'.

Happy Birthday, Mick Avory!

I did a double-take when I saw the title of this thread. "Mick Avory, as in, the Kinks?" I saw your username next to the title, and knew that it was. I'm surprised, but very happy, to run into another Kinks fan here!

Cannot believe he is 70 8O
I wonder if he can still make music?
I remember hearing Lola, but did not understand it until I was in University-did not grow up understanding much English.
That song is horribly funny, seeing it translated.

He still plays the drums and he sings 'Dedicated Follower of Fashion with The Kast Off Kinks. He's an adorable old man. :D :P
