Polish Geographical Names

Mszczonów, Puszczykowo, Szczyrk.

They don't resemble any other language and you can only guess how they are pronounced. And I love them!

Polish spelling is like that. I worked with a Polish woman, and I learned just a few words of it during that time.

There is a Wikipedia article titled List of Polish city names. -- Fluent in Russian, I know how to pronounce the Polish szcz part, which is a single letter Щ in Cyrillic characters. However, these long strings of consonants in Polish, play my heart.

The Welsh are also rather "vowel impaired" in their language, and have some rather mouth breaking, and brain breaking, place names.

There is a bizarre municipality name in northern Finland, Ii (pronounced like "e"). Nobody knows for sure what it means. And it is embarassing, being like the number 11 on signs.

To make matters worse, there is Yli-Ii which means "Upper Ii".
