Been there
A few years ago I realised that Antarctica was the only continent I'd never set foot on so I arranged tickets on a cruise that went there. We set off from Chile, sailed down the West Coast of South America and then kept on heading South until we reached the Antarctic Peninsular (the bit that sticks out like a tail). We spent a total of two days there journeying back and forth in rubber boats before heading back North.
One our trip back we visited the Falkland Islands then sailed to Argentina where we caught a flight back home.
I enjoyed the trip immensely but the girlfriend I was with hated every minute. The ship was a converted Russian exploration vessel so facilities were a little basic. Add to that her sea sickness (no stabilizers) and you can see why she didn't have a good time. The thing I remember most was the ice, it isn't white, it's blue, a wonderful light blue.
