Whew, one hurdle down and only a few more to go. We got a car yesterday, and got insurance and a tag this morning. It's an 87 Cougar. Yes, I said EIGHTY seven. But it's one owner, the guy bought it new and it was his first car. He had a lot of money and kept it and was going to restore it and put a 351 in it but he never got around to it. Died. It's still got the factory v6. Clean as can be. Just 106K on it. It's actually got a cassette player lol. Do they make cassettes anymore even?

Anyway, now to find DH a job!

Noooooo. We just totaled the van on March 13th and have been without transportation ever since. My first car was in 1981 and was a 79 Mustang, which I got built into a pro-stock and raced the quarter mile at this place right outside of Bham that did local ameature drag racing. I've had several cars since then. It's just been hell trying to get anything done without a vehicle. Also, DH hasn't been able to find a job since we didn't have a car, and he lost his job in Feb, so things have been hard. We still only have one car right now and need two, but my oldest daughter has a car and so does her fiance, so that helps out some. However, she has been out of town or at school a lot and we haven't had transportation to get anywhere. I had no idea how out of shape I was until I walked to the grocery store the other day.

Good to have some wheels. I still remember my first car, a little Ford Fiesta, AMA 654 W. I'd been driving it a couple of months when I fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended another car, poor thing was bent like a banana

Well, the van we had, which was an 06 Mazda MPV, disintegrated when the truck hit it and the truck just had a dent. Th entire front of it literally went to pieces and flew all over the road. You could see the motor completely and the frame. It bent the frame too. So, it's totaled. But that scared me away from fiberglass. DH had been looking at all kinds of Geo's and Kia's and crap and I was like no those are just plastic! Finally we found something old school and metal that is in great shape. THATS what we got lol. My best friend came over for lunch today, like she does every day and she drove it and she said she felt gangsta in it, cause it's actually one of those kind of cars. Put some spinners on it and tint the windows and it would be uber gangsta. LOL! Thats only because nobody drives those old big cars anymore except gangstas. I don't care, it's safe! Plus, there ain't one computer involved in working on it either! We just need some non-metric tools and we are good to go. DH doesn't know about working on cars, but I do. And plus, a Mercury is basically just a Ford, so I can do that just fine, it's a V6.

Not yet. I'll get my daughter to take one and send it to me tomorrow. I want to put it on FB too!

Does it have Rebel stripes on it, and a horn that plays Dixie ??

Thanks for the congrats and no it's not the General Lee. I think the General Lee was a Dodge if I'm not mistaken. Mine is an 87 Cougar. It's clean and looks nice. Just because I'm in Alabama doesn't mean I'd drive the General Lee. However, either one of my boys would probably love to.

Googling the car model now. It's got a kinda town car feel to it, except it's a coupe.
