Maybe the movie version of Wolverine will get a pass for another decade.

Maybe superhero comic have immortals, but Archie Andrews is scheduled to be killed in a July 2014 issue. I don't know how old he is in comic book terms, but older than me. For a mortal, to be expected, but still going to die a hero mortal, saving the life of a friend.

This. They tried it once with Superman, but there was such a huge backlash that they brought him back. I expect the same for Wolverine if they try to make it permanent, as he's a fairly popular character.

Actually, I did a bit of research on that, and they're just killing him off for that one special issue. It's more of a "what if?" scenario that would explore what would happen if he died, rather than them killing him off for real.

Oh, I thought it said his death is going to consume a 4 issue story line. I guess I didn't read deeply enough.

I didn't know they were going to spread it out over four issues, but regardless, they're *not really* killing him off.

WHAT? 8O

Like with Superman, when they killed off Spock in Wrath of Khan, the backlash forced them to bring him back. I expect the same thing here if they follow through with this. Wolverine was always my favorite.

Of course this isn't going to stick. Over the past decade or so Marvel's killed off Hawkeye, Captain America, Punisher, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Professor X, Quasar, Thanos, Drax, Sabertooth, Mystique, and a whole bunch of others with greater or lesser fanfare, and they've brought back pretty much everyone with some excuse or the other (doppelgangers, suspended animation, etc. etc.)

Each universe may have its own version. Ultimate Spiderman was just killed off. But the multitude of other Spiderman chars from differing universes are still alive.

Wolverine dies in one universe, he's still kicking it in others. This is how it will go.

Sabertooth was decapitated by Wolverine by the Muramasa Blade. His soul was shown in hell. Yet, he came back. I have abandoned comics as a form of entertainment because they don't take continuity seriously. I will not read any of these comics when they come out, nor will I read them when they come out in book form. Marvel will find a way to bring him back, just like DC brought Superman back. These characters are too valuable to kill.

Sorry to hijack the thread but the death of Cmdr Spock in Star Trek II Wrath of Khan was planned by Harve Bennett and movies II, III and IV were written to be watched in series, it's a damn good story.
