I grew up during Viet Nam, but I don't know anything about it. I've just been so caught up in watching stuff about it and reading stuff about it because it was the big war for my generation I guess. I was born in 64 and nobody my age fought there but everybody knew about it somewhat. It was the shadow overhanging us. No Desert Storm or whatever this one is called has felt like it. I want to know more about Viet Nam. If it's your interest, please PM me and tell me what you know about it.

It's not a special interest of mine but my foster dad was a Vietnam-nam vet,an AF lifer.
You know when it's about to storm and you see the distant lightning, some call it sheet lightning,he told me it was like that when bombs were dropping in the distance. He said that little kids could be wired with bombs, they would come up and ask,"Got some choclate,Joe?"
He would never call me by the short version of my name, said he saw too many little twelve year old girls selling themselves with that name.He vas exposed to Agent Orange, later he had to have a heart transplant because of it.Shame on the goverment for subjecting people to that poison.
He is one of the finest human beings I have ever known,I am proud that he was my foster dad.
My ex was in the service then,he enlisted at seventeen,he never saw the elephant, was in Germany most of the time, later got orders for Vietnam nam and was ready to be deployed, and that's when they started pulling the troops out.He was Recon, so he really dodged a bullet. He spent the rest of his service at Fort Hood.

It just so happens that I have a great desire to go to Vietnam as a tourist.
