petsmart sounds pretty petdumb to me.
Oh they are. I feel like that annoying a**hole, but I am Cesar Milan up in Petsmarts. Another problem I see is when people hold their leashes of their dog and the dog is pulling. There is two things I really recommend not doing with a dog:
1. Do not use a leash that has the lever that allows you to extend the leash far out, you cannot control the dog better that way
2. Do not hold your leash with so much tension, all it does is amplify the dogs pulling
One lady was having a real struggle with her white german shepard. Who was pulling. I struck up a conversation, really cause I care about the dog. [Yeah I go to pet stores because I am not allowed to have a pet at my grandmother's home, just to use people to pet their animals]
I said, "May I help with the leash,"
Owner, "She's a puller, she'll pull you no matter what,"
I said, "She'll pull the more you pull,"
She handed me the leash, just to prove me wrong. I held the leash at my side relaxed, her dog walked better and stopped pulling.
Owner, "She's never done that before,"
Then the german shepard pulled cause she saw something, the owner smiles like, "But I want this argument" look. Instead I made a correction noise and snapped with my fingers,
I told the shepard to sit, she did so, I used a treat that I took from the vet care and used it for the german shepard to follow me
I said, "Eyes on Me,"
When she tried to pull towards the thing, I used my correction noise, used the treat as a direction, and had her watch me. When she did not pull, she got the treat and she got affection.
I then told the lady, "I recommend clicker training her on the leash. They are like 99 cents around here, use a treat and help her understand her boundaries of the leash,"
The lady thanked me. She then later asked me what treats to use and what clicker to use.
And Petsmart won't hire me, lol. I didn't pass their personality test. Seriously though they could have me a personalize trainer just walk around the store
