My brother has lived away from home at university for a few months. Soon he will be coming back.

My brother is abusive and bad tempered with me and for this reason I said to my mum I did not want him to come home.

My mother then said to me "James you must respect his rights to live here"

Do you think my mom is right or do you think I am entitled to disrespect his rights to live at home if he bullies me?

I wish I could say otherwise, since he is abusive.

But your mother is right: he does have the right to live there, since this is his family's home.

I hope you could find a way to end the abuse with him, and he to stop abusing you.
