First time I have ever heard of this character. First response? Why does he even have a following in the first place? Is this supposed to be entertainment. Do people nowadays think that just turning a camera on yourself and acting like you only have one brain cell is entertainment?
I think the main reason he has a following is that his exploits are very very funny. You could write a brilliant comedy out of this stuff. I think the way that it has destroyed his life is bad, and the negative side of it should stop, but still, it's damn funny. There's also something endearing about his naivety.
To answer my own question, I think the best thing he could do is try to wring some money out of this. He'd make a good living out of just charging a subscription fee to listen to him talk for half an hour a week, and there's a potential goldmine in CWC related products. If he has some well meaning relative who could help him out with this stuff, he could use his infamy to really benefit himself, I think. The tricky thing would be getting someone to help him who would make sure Chris gets most of the proceeds, and that steps are made to teach him basic social skills.
He could also write a book chronicling his side of what has happened to him online, or maybe get in contact with a serious author on mental health issues to write about how trolling has impacted his life. Someone like Jon Ronson would be perfect for this (check out The Psychopath Test). I'd buy it.
