I've been browsing Chris Chan information for a few months now and I find him to be a fascinating character. Most recently, a troll convinced him to take his blow up doll out on a date with her (fake) photograph pasted on over the face and record it on the grounds that it would show her how much he loved her. I think this latest thing might have been the last nail in the coffin in his chances at a somewhat healthy social life, and on that level it's tragic, but on another level it's pretty funny. There doesn't seem to be any limit on how degrading he is willing to be if he thinks he is going to get a girlfriend out of it.

Assuming Chris ever has his moment of clarity, what are your thoughts on what he could do to rebuild his life?

He should have been placed in an institution years ago. His dad was a negligent idiot and his mom is a human wasteland, and he'll never be able to function without adult supervision.

I think it is sad what he is going through, but he ultimately brings it all upon himself. --If his parents had any sense whatsoever, they would have either pulled the plug or heavily monitored/censored his internet connection years ago.

Also, From what I understand his dad was an engineer for General Electric, so I would figure since ChrisChan has Autism, his dad most likely had an undiagnosed ASD as well. If his mom actually loves him, or cares about him, she will see that he either gets some form of help, or at the very least pull the plug on his broadband internet connection, as that is where the bulk of CC's trouble stems from.

First, get off the internet, and not get back on until he's finished.

Then? I don't know. He's in his... mid 20s now? I don't know how one goes about making friends at that age.

Yeah, that's a bit of a problem... even if he tries to get a job, the employer is going to google his name to see what comes up...

First time I have ever heard of this character. First response? Why does he even have a following in the first place? Is this supposed to be entertainment. Do people nowadays think that just turning a camera on yourself and acting like you only have one brain cell is entertainment?

I think the main reason he has a following is that his exploits are very very funny. You could write a brilliant comedy out of this stuff. I think the way that it has destroyed his life is bad, and the negative side of it should stop, but still, it's damn funny. There's also something endearing about his naivety.

To answer my own question, I think the best thing he could do is try to wring some money out of this. He'd make a good living out of just charging a subscription fee to listen to him talk for half an hour a week, and there's a potential goldmine in CWC related products. If he has some well meaning relative who could help him out with this stuff, he could use his infamy to really benefit himself, I think. The tricky thing would be getting someone to help him who would make sure Chris gets most of the proceeds, and that steps are made to teach him basic social skills.

He could also write a book chronicling his side of what has happened to him online, or maybe get in contact with a serious author on mental health issues to write about how trolling has impacted his life. Someone like Jon Ronson would be perfect for this (check out The Psychopath Test). I'd buy it.

I'll take your word for it, " That his exploits are very funny."

I never heard of this guy before now. Sounds kind of sad. But I might watch it if it had zombies.

From what I got doing a google search on CWC, he ranks up there with such net.kooks as the late Steve "Speedbump" Coursey, John Grubor, The Bastard Operator from Hell, and HipCrime.

Chris was actually one of the first bronies, back in his early 20s.
