How can i learn foreign languages for free?

Take a class at your highschool. See if you can audit a college class.

Do you have any relatives who speak another language? That could work. I never liked the languages that my school taught. I was never one for Spanish and French.

No i don't have any relatives that speak foreign language,but then again i really ain't in contact with my family if you know what i mean...

Listen to the online radio stations in foreign languages

I'd recommend a German or a Scandinavian one since they are more closely related to english. The words are different but the structure is similar.

watch foreign tv shows. or at least tv shows w/ the language u want as audio.
also if u have dvds, some of them have audio tracks in like Spanish and French.

Go on a website that has different languages to learn.

There's a frog tutorial if you are interested in speaking that. Just do a search. I started going through it when I met a really cute foreign exchange student from fRance.

We have a class at my school that teaches Japanese. What would really help you would be to live in Japan with someone for 6 months. You can learn a lot. But that probably costs money.

Free, huh?

Go to your library, and check out as many Japanese/Chinese language books as you can find. They'll be in the 400's in the Dewey code.

Move.

Study.

Then go to Japan. And China.

That's what I did--for years Japanese was my hobby, and was what I did when other people were out having lives. It did work, though, as my Japanese accent is good and I speak it conversationally although I've only been here for a little less than two years.

All this is not to brag, but to say that what you need is hard-core dedication and a willingness to drill, drill and then drill some more, and to do it on your own. That is, if you're not willing to take classes, which probably work just as well if you have access to them...
