When I look at words, some of them, I like the way they look more than others. Some examples would be; center, creation, objective, drama, lemonade, dracula, karma, eyeball.

I don't really know what it is. A cross between seeing colors and the shape of the letters maybe.

Some words I don't like:
Seven, yellow, viagra, republican, mcdonalds, people, virgin.

What about you?

I don't really see much of a difference between the two groups of words that you listed in terms of how they look. You yourself don't seem to know exactly why you like one and not the other. Maybe the balance of the tall letters (b, d, l etc), short letters (a, c, e etc) and hanging letters (g, j, p etc)? Where do the colors come from?

I've always thought "fly" is a special word because it doesn't have a short letter in it.

I don't like the "look" of those words that have strange vowel and/or consonant combinations. This is not strictly visual because I'm not comfortable with the look of letter combinations that seem to suggest some awkward sound. For example I don't like "eu" (which often happens in French), "ei", "ps" at the beginning of a word, "ths" as in "months", "gh" and "tre" at the end of a word in British spelling such as "centre".

i prefer words whose spellings match their pronounciation. for example, i like 'north' better than 'people', each sound in 'north' corresponds to one letter or digraph, n to [n], o to [ɔ] r to [r] and th to [θ]. whereas 'people' is a mess, given the history of our language.

my favorite word is "kostrzyn". along with some other polish words, it just has that fantasy quality...like it would be a fairy's name.

The look of a word doesnt mean anything. Its the sound of the word that effects me (one way or the other).

Some subjects I wish I had more excuse to talk about just because its fun to say the word for the subject. Words like: Winona Ryder, Jamaica Kincaid, the high chapperalle, Yucca Flats, and chicken tempura.
