How do I fix it?

P.S.: The bowl is too full for a plunger.

Ouch. Three solutions:

1. If you own a "snake" use that to clear the blockage. A plumber's snake is a length of flexible spring-steel rod used for this purpose and is pushed/twisted and pulled repeatedly to dislodge the blockage.

2. Call in a plumber: He'll use a "snake".

3. Find something similar to shove down the toilet, e.g. a short length of flexible hosepipe - failing that use your hand/arm and wash it well afterwards!

Is there 'debris' in the bowl or just plain water?

If there's just water perhaps the blockage is further along the sewer system, I stupidly flushed some rotten broccoli down the loo and it stuck in a trap under a manhole cover in the garden. A plumber came and showed me how to clear it but I've not flushed things like that again.

If your blockage is in the bowl, I'd get a couple of bin liners that reach your elbow and delve in pulling and breaking any thicker items into smaller items then hope it clears.

Then have a shower.

Another solution is to put drain cleaner down the toilet (caustic soda i.e. sodium hydroxide) but it is very nasty corrosive stuff. Available from hardware shops. However, it *could* damage the enamel glaze on your toilet too.

^ Great stuff that, I cleared my downpipes which were full of moss - you could see it smoke and hiss then give a satisfying plop and gush.

^ Extremely dangerous though, especially on bare skin or the eyes - it could easily blind someone.

take an old large yogurt container, scoop out the maximum of water in the bowl, place in a larger bucket for disposal elsewhere. then take a large bucket full of water and pour it forcefully into the hole in the bowl. if that doesn't do it, then empty just enough water [should be clear enough after the bucket evacuation] and use a plunger on both up and down strokes to dislodge the detritus sufficient to let lubricating water surround it so it can just drop down the pipe. then dump another big bucket of water down the hole for good measure. then put in enzymatic cleaner down the hole once per month.

The OP hasn't got back to us so perhaps their arm is stuck on the U bend, should we call the Fire Service?

somebody needs to invent a more powerful toilet.

An old house in London I lived in had an excellent WC. The 'throne' was rather throne like and positioned off the floor on a plinth with the cistern of water about 6 feet above, it had a chain. It flushed with such force I don't recall it ever requiring a second.

My current WC was replaced with a water saving cistern which supposedly uses far less water but I find I have to flush 2 or 3 times to even send a tissue into the caverns below.

it has been my experience that high fiber diets are hell on lowflow toilets. you'd think in this day and age, if they can send a man to the moon that somebody ought to have come up with a better way to send poop down from the other moon.

I meant "the OTHER moon" IOW each of our poop-emitting rear ends. IOW I was saying that they could send a man up to the moon why can't they merely efficiently evaculate the poop coming out of the other moons [slang for buttocks] down here on earth? it was jejune juvenile wordplay.
