I bumped into a girl and her friend in a bar last night and she wispered to her friend behind my back "what a strange little man"

In more depth by that comment what did she think of me.

could mean a myriad of things. 'little' could be literal or not.

adjective: unusual or surprising; difficult to understand or explain.

I'd say that she was quite a "Rude young lady" and you do well to steer clear of her.
