Ponder this once
made an acquaintance some months ago who was a recent immigrant from Italy. He told me that I had no friends because I was brought up in America. He claimed that aspie or not, I would have had a whole slew of friends if brought up in Europe. He believed that countries that were melting pots were divisive in every sense of the word. This gentleman went on to say that aspies only imagined their problems and others fueled that fire due to meanness - that aspies were entirely too self-critical and enabled others to do the same to them - he even criticized the self-help books and stated that that they were entirely too nit-picky and that the general population truly needs to respect a person's differences. He asked me, "You think that NT's are perfect?! eh? HAAA!! ! bologna!! The aspie population should write books to help NT's become more like them and the world would be a nicer place. So, aspies don't like people? Who likes people?! !! Look how humankind is?! ! The aspies are good!! ! They are the cure for the damage that my type people(NT's) have done! Edgar Cayce calls the aspies the blue children." (I didn't know that Cayce was popular in Italy.) ![]()
Your acquaintance seems to come across as just one more America-bashing foreigner.
You're best off to ignore him.

Ah ha ha! So European aspies have loads of friends? LMAO!
As for the rest of what he said, he sounds like one of those condescending *** who will say any nonsense if they think it will make people feel better. It's on par with the "what's normal anyway" BS they'll spew at you for the same reason.

Well as a European i would love to know where all my friends are.
I think that your average NT is unaware of the privilege that comes with it. For the most part it comes from well meaning ignorance that because they are treated with respect and believe that they treat others the same way that people make up their problems. If they don't see it happening then obviously it can't exist can it? It's just the same idiots saying these things that would probably swear that a type of food didn't exist if they hadn't eaten it.

The whole time this guy was talking to me made me think that he was an aspie but one without a label or one that was NEVER, EVER told about it. Doesn't it seem that way after reading all that he said? This guy was ALWAYS nice to me and my family. Nonetheless, he retired to Italy and brought his wife and two unmarried sons with him.

Could well be, I think it's human nature to project your experience onto someone else. Like my mom the other day after telling her i had a major meltdown proceeded to tell me that everyone has them. I honestly think that she was trying to make me feel better and that what I go through isn't unique to only me. Which to a point is true it's just the severity of it. Maybe your friend had the same intentions?
