Does anyone here ever wish even just with the occasional dream to become a celebrity, maybe like a movie star or something? I convinced myself over 1 1/2 years that I want to act in movies and TV. That's most likely my false calling, unfortunately. It would be so cool to be so driven and passionate about that. I know that, ok, only a few hundred people or actors in the world are truly famous names, but I wouldn't want to be that famous. I would like some degree of fame and fortune, but not too much. How do I cope?

The world of acting is probably not one you want to go into.

How many famous people admit to being sexually abused? Quite a lot.
How many famous people have been exposed as sexual abusers, quite a lot , especially in the UK.

Thanks to the glamour of movies a lot of people want to be actors so there is a lot of competition. There are actors who are stuck waiting tables their whole life and don't get good roles.

I think everyone wants fame on some level. Those who claim otherwise are lying to you or to themselves.

I disagree. I would hate to be famous-- no privacy, constant paparazzi, people in your business, your every move being critiqued and talked about--- yeaaahhhhh no! That sounds like my idea of a nightmare. I would love the riches that would come with it but I would hate for everyone to know my business. Especially those that might have malicious intent in mind.. I would rather no one know me than to have the whole world know my name. In my dream world, my job would be typing on a Linux terminal all day, I would have riches but I would live on a farm outside of Chicago by myself. That way I could drive into town to do my shopping, but I wouldn't have to deal with people unless I felt up to it. No one outside of the stores I frequent and my family would have any idea who I was.

I don't. I value my privacy too much.

I wouldn't want to be a star. I would like to be a writer, or a costume designer, or a producer, or something like that. That way, I could be RICH, but I could also go get a loaf of bread without being mobbed.

i'm with Cat, i would like to play a good role in the film making process but not have my face plastered across tabloids in checkout lines everywhere!

Being famous would be great under optimal circumstances. I doubt it would ever be too optimal for me though...

Still, I think about having enough influence on the world to hopefully bring about some good.

Yeah, that's fun!! I've been an extra in a couple of Independent films. There are often movies / TV shows filming in Baltimore. One time, I sat at a table in a restaurant and talked with a nice-looking man, and ate cheesecake (and did crossword puzzles in my lap, between takes), for about 6 hours!!

No. Way. I think I'd really enjoy acting, particularly comedy, but only maybe minor or local stuff. Now, famous Hollywood actors, I don't know why they don't all kill themselves or go completely insane from the stalkerazzi and unhealthily obsessed fans. Also most of them these days only seem famous for their looks and not their acting skills, which they don't have much of. I'd have to lose maybe 100 lbs, get all kinds of cosmetic surgery and maybe even bleach my hair before anyone would take me seriously.

A lot of actors and comedians born in Canada ended up going to the states to get a real career. I don't know why Canada has such a problem making decent TV shows or movies. We're not a poor country or anything. It's especially bad with game shows. When I was a kid there was a game show called "Definition", which was about as flashy as a boiled potato and the prizes were maybe a blender or a toaster. That toasted only two slices at once. It's pretty amusing, actually.
