This is mostly for those who haven't got any children. If you were to have one or more, what would you name them?

My choices for boys names would be:-
Thomas
Craig
Finley
Kim
Alexander
Nicholas

My choices for girls names would be:-
Chloe
Natalie
Lauren
Megan
Phoebe
Carrie
Summer
Indie

I like to see what other people's best names they would choose are.

If a boy, I would name him John or Jonathan. My late father's name was John, so I would name a hypothetical son after my late father to honor him.

If a girl, I would give her a name beginning with M or S. There are so many female names beginning with M and S that it would be difficult to decide.

so much choice...as of now, i don't plan on having children but i've compiled lots of names i like, some are experimental, new and might not be the best idea, but i've got some classic ones too.

for girls:

katelyn
manon
valerie
jean
camila
mikao
marin
ramona
lucy
claire
margot
yael
inbal

there are also some assorted words that i think would possibly make nice sounding names but could or will admittedly lead to ridicule, like anon, selaessie, imagen, tremlie, tau, davis, illani, cudahy, and also town names like Celle, Debrecen, Kostrzyn..
and ynet. after ynetnews.

for boys i have
francisco
julian
kelly
yael
kai
enrique
gideon
diego

If I were to have a child:

Boy- Andrzej
Girl- Elle

My second choice for a girl was always Nice. Not like the adjective, but the French city.
This can present problems, however with pronunciation, so it's debatable whether it would be a good idea.

However, my name was always a pain in the butt to have people pronounce correctly growing up, and I ended up loving it in the end. Hard to say, but the point is actually moot. heh.

isn't it pronounced [nis], like "niece"?

yes it is. But how do you know that if you just see it on a paper and have never spoken to the person?
That would potentially be the issue, and the child forever heaving a heavy sigh and saying "NOT MY NAME" when the teacher or whoever says "[Nyce] LASTNAME. Oh, what a lovely name!"

Erik(boy)/Erika(girl) or Krystian(boy)/Krystyna(girl), eventually Henry(boy) or Karina(girl).
I like names with "ry" or "ri" in them. They are strong and unique.

BTW. I hate my own name. Well, I don't mind my full name (Katarzyna) or the English short version (Kate) but Polish shortcut just sucks (Kasia). Unfortunatelly I am called by people who don't know me well enough and try to be nice. My synthesia makes me see it as a weak, girly name. It's all flowers, white-pink color and flounce dresses. I prefer other shortcut Kaśka, which is also bad but not as bad as the Kasia - dark blue, a cold waterfall at night.
Also. The name itself is too common. There is a bunch of Kates around. I am always confused when anyone says "Kasia" because I am thinking they want something from me but they don't. Whenever there is more than 10 girls around I can be pretty sure one of them will be a Kate too.

i guess. lots of town names can make nice names yet lead to confusion, i was thinking of Debrecen, in Hungary.

the very first thing people do when they meet me is ask: "do you prefer this original Spanish version of your name? or the English version of your name"
and my answer is always the same: i don't care which one.
it's been going on forever!
