i wonder if anybody else here has "placeholder" dreams? IOW a sort of void or blank spot with rudimentary dream consciousness in a pre-lucid state, one knows one is dreaming but nothing is happening, one is still not really awake as there are no waking sensations.

In the past, I've had a few dreams where I went back to work at a company I worked at more than 25 years ago. I had one again this morning.

For some reason, I never have dreams about companies I liked. Just this one.

I sometimes start dreaming within minutes of falling asleep. I've always heard that dreams are only during deep sleep but things like that would seem to say otherwise.

I don’t remember the rest of the dream, just that it was somehow unpleasant, and I was alone in my bedroom and said “Please tell me this is just a dream” several times, then I tried to turn on my bedroom light, but nothing happened (something that isn’t quite common among my at-home dreams but does happen sometimes). Then I said “Yes! That means I’m dreaming. Time for me to... wake...up,” and then I did, feeling as if my consciousness was being yanked back to my physical body.

i dreamt i returned to a hospital i visited in another dream long ago, this one was the usual all white with wall-sized floor to ceiling plate glass windows, soundproofed in multiple layers, overlooking a concrete garden with plants installed here and there between the walkways of the concrete canyons formed by the various hospital buildings. i was in the breakroom at a stove cooking some odd footstuffs in a frying pan including one whole egg the size of a bowling pin in diameter, though about a third of the length, still a big one. i was wondering to myself why i had not cracked the eggs and cooked what was inside it when i got distracted by something and turned around, and when i turned back the egg swelled up to twice its normal size and got very lumpy, next thing i knew it cracked wide open and inside was a tawny hybrid creature, half hare and half duck, with pale brown eyes that stared at me. i immediately lifted it out of the hot pan and onto a cooler red bathtowel, it continued staring at me impassively. then i went across the hall to another duty section, i spoke with the receptionist sitting out front, exotic in appearance with black military moustache and haircut, he told me it was close to quitting time, then i noticed lots of women in families walking back and forth to this office and that, all were dressed in summer pastel clothing, shorts.

I dreamed that I was passing by my childhood home (age 0 - 5) which my father built, and the owners were outside with a real estate developer. In real life I've been going past the home for years hoping to see / speak with the owner, because my dad built the house and I don't even remember the inside, and it's my lifelong dream to buy it when and if it's ever on offer.

In real life I have never seen anyone outside and I'm too shy to leave a note with my name and number.

Anyway ... in the dream the owners were outside and the real estate man let me go in for a tour. I told him my dad built the house and I had such tears in my eyes that he turned away all the other prospective buyers, knowing the house was sold to me by nostalgia alone. It was fascinating inside, with lots of details I don't remember from the dream and can't verify from real life, but I'm sure they weren't the true interior. I was disappointed in the dream because there were new developments all around the house and it wasn't a private laneway the way it was when I was little (or the way it is now in real life). I walked out knowing subconsciously that I hadn't seen the "real" house of my childhood. Maybe I knew it was a dream, or maybe I knew my mind had invented the interior design.

I was carrying something like a kite or a disc covered in tarp. When I looked closely there was a bottle of prescription medication for erectile dysfunction, with my grandfather's name on the label. My granddad used to be our neighbour so it made me laugh to find this relic of his in my former home.

Since quite a long time I dream most of the nights that I'm being hunted by a human/animal/monster that wants to kill me. Often they really get me killed by the end. In that moment I wake up obviously. Other times I force myself to wake up, cause I recognize it as a dream. These feelings are absolutely terrifying.. I tried literally anything while dreaming to make them stop. Just "facing" them doesn't work either..

Many years ago I started also having sleeping paralysis for a long time. Sometimes more, sometimes less. And later I became the ability of (almost) lucid dreaming as well. At that time I wasn't aware that this was actually a thing. But I loved sleeping at that time, cause I could go in my sweet, little, perfect dream world... meanwhile it's never as intense and "controllable" as it was back then. So I basically lost the ability.

Gosh. One suggestion. You don't need to 'force' yourself to wake up from a bad dream. All that you have to do is this simple trick...in the dream...shut your eyes, for a few seconds, and then open your eyes. Easy.

When you open your eyes - your actual physical eyes have no choice but actually open, and you find yourself lying safe in your bed. I discovered that by accident when I was a child. I would have recurring dreams about looking over the edge of tall buildings, and then falling head first off of the buildings. My eyes would shut as I would fall toward the pavement below, and then (when I failed to hit the pavement) I would open my eyes...which would cause my actual eyes to actually open. Would feel disoriented for a moment, and then would find myself safe and awake in bed.

Another trick is (if you wanna stay asleep) is something a girl in highschool I knew would do. If you realize that the bad dream you're in is "just a dream" then...just make up magic powers for yourself -like the ability to fly-to get away from the monster- or whatever it is. Never tried it myself. But it might work for you.

I had a dream this morning that I had a new girlfriend who was really smitten by Socialism. In the dream, I lived in a big house and had a cleaning lady come in daily to clean the house.

Tired of her griping, I rented a storage unit and moved everything in it. I then told her that I had given it all to the poor when she came to spend the weekend. She then griped about having no furniture, sleeping on an old mattress on the floor with one dirty sheet, cooking in a microwave and having no stove or refrigerator, and having no tv. She didn't make it through the weekend before she was gone for good.

Two;

First one was that me and my sisters are colleagues, both working under some sort of militaristic group of sorts.
We went home only to find the rest of the group/crew/platoon/etc.'s minds and bodies were taken over by something.
And they all gathered at my neighbor's house across the street. Then there was me who plans to sabotage it, yet I went and take a break at home before going.
So I changed my clothes, took a nap...
Then on the way there I changed my clothes -- the clothes are bloody and along the way I ended up either hurting someone badly enough to make them bleed

Second one was me and my relatives on an outing. We're on this resort, swimming a deep yet nested pool. I saw my mom, my aunt carrying my baby cousin, my cousins my sister, and a bunch of foreigners and strangers...
The nested pool isn't just for looks -- there are at least 5-6 layers. The bottom most part is literally under the surface and is apparently accessible through... Getting through some wall and an invisible stairs.
So I went at the bottom most. Then I went back at the surface. The surface pool's floor was transparent. Then I went back at the bottom most pool so I could see through the pool's ceiling instead...
I woke up because it was too cold.

Hey thanks for the suggestions! I will try the trick with opening my eyes if I remeber while dreaming ;) And the thing with the magic power is something I basically try most of the time.. But I can't quite remember if it worked or not..

I dreamed that I looked in the mirror and I had ants in my hair. :(

Then the dream switched perspective because the ants were in another lady's hair, but I was helping her to flick them out. She was an older lady with a hairspray helmet and we had a hard time digging the ants out from under the hairspray. She kept asking if they were lice, but they were definitely ants with the round head and round body.

Gross.

One Memorial Weekend (1979, I think) after listening to the Indy 500 on the radio, I was on the telephone. When I was finished and set the telephone down, I noticed hundreds of tiny spiders scurrying away from the head set where they had apparently just hatched.

The rest of that day, I was shaking little spiders out of my hair. It wasn't until I took a shower that night that I was rid of them.

i dreamt i was in an unfamiliar bedroom at night, no lights on the but room was suffused in a subtle blue and silver glow, there was a big picture window overlooking a huge mountain dotted with colored lights and awash in moonlight from the full moon above, which was purple. i prayed for the sinners of the world to see the light.
