One of my best childhood memories is watching my mother wrap presents. She always cut just the right amount of paper--straight--and folded in the ends perfectly. I am not so skilled: the paper cuts are all crooked and the ends, well, I prefer to use a foil paper so that I can finally just mash the ends down. I use a lot of tape.
The one thing that I have learned to do that covers up my clumsiness with the paper is to use a very wide, first class ribbon. That way I can just bind the package and end in a simple bow and have the satisfaction of seeing the ribbon from the unwrapped gift carefully set aside to be ironed and used another year.
That said, I hate to wrap presents and avoid it, not by using an inferior wrap technique, but by buying fewer presents. Giving fewer presents means getting fewer presents, of course, but that's okay (no one knows my taste anyway). Eventually you can get your Christmas giving down to a smile and a wave.
My mom and uncle are amazing at wrapping presents. I screw up the corners and end up using too much paper or not enough. XD
I love the ribbon idea. I have used the bows that you can stick onto the paper to cover up mishaps in the past.
Yeah, I tend to buy one gift per person. I'm a poor college student so this is permissible. In the future, I would like to just give people food for Christmas. I make goooood cookies. I also make some jewelry but I don't know if any of my family would like to receive them. Some of my pieces look nicer than others. Lol. I'm learning! XD
