Is it just me, or has anyone else ever noticed that those who are most insistent that they world must change are also the same people who are unwilling to make any changes in their own lives?

Just wondering ...

The empty can rattles the most. The people who complain the loudest and most obnoxiously usually have the least valid points to make. The most smug and condescending people usually have the least amount of intelligence, knowledge, experience, or skills to back up such arrogance. And yes, the people who insist most strongly that things must change usually aren't willing to change anything themselves. We live in a world of hypocrisy. It makes sad and insecure people feel better about themselves.

Yes, it is because some people feel other people need to change and adapt for them, they are lazy and entitled.

You just defined the term "Armchair Activist."

Hmm ... "Armchair Activism" ... Like when people who don't have jobs and live off the dole or the goodwill of others post rants against GMOs, Autism Speaks, or the "Evil Empire That Is America", and say that "Somebody Should Do Something" while they do nothing themselves?

That kind of Armchair Activism?

From Urban Dictionary:
One who sits in their armchair or desk chair and blogs or posts Activists issues on facebook without ever really doing anything about said issues or exercising any form of activism as it would require that person to actually leave the armchair.

What about people with disabilities who want accommodations :?:

if people with disabilities need to be accommodated, then educators and employers are obligated by law to make reasonable accommodations for those disabilities.

^ that, and it's perfectly fine to ask, assuming they're not able to arrange for the accommodations themselves because they are disabled.

we're talking about others who are perfectly capable of making a difference in their own lives, but choose not to because of a sense of superiority/entitlement, defenses, plain laziness or whatever.

I am pretty insistent that things ought to change, however I do also make changes in my life where possible. Not really sure the majority of people who are the most insistent on that are necessarily those who are actually unwilling to make changes in their own life.

I am just confused why you guys think its those kinds of people that are most vocal about changes needing to be made...seems like its just another way to invalidate anyone who is unhappy with the status quo by blanket generalizing the majority of lazy, entitled people that aren't willing to make any changes in their lives or go further than just complaining about a problem. But maybe I'm missing something...

there's really nothing wrong with wanting to change the status quo which, obviously can be sh***y and disadvantageous to many. like you said, there isn't always an inverse relationship between that, and wanting to make changes your own life.
you can strive to make changes for yourself, and the greater good but sometimes people forget that the world won't cater to their every whim. the 'me me me' crowd.
