Think back to your childhood, when you fooled around with art supplies or used them (to try) to make masterpieces. What was your weapon of choice when you felt the desire to color something?

Pencils, but markers seem to be a more popular choice amongst children today.

Crayons for me. Pencils break to easy and makers got all over my hands.

We didn't use markers when I was very young.

I like markers, especially those which don't have too-thick tips, because each stroke covers a wider area than crayons/pencils. And it doesn't make quite the mess of paint.

I think I liked pencils as a kid because they were easy to control.

To this day, I LOVE crayons (and coloring)!

I liked all of them, but I used markers and crayons the most, and chalk the least. One thing I didn't like about paint was how unpredictable it was, and pencil colors could come off as pale compared to markers and crayons. And sometimes they'd break too easily.

Yesterday I read you can make non-toxic finger paint by mixing Kool-Aid with plain yogurt.

Me, I never finger-painted much as a kid. Too messy, I think. I used crayons since they came in like a zillion colors and were widely available but I never cared for the waxy texture. I liked markers the most.

Anyway, I guess it's up to what the kid personally prefers most, especially if they may actually be a future artist, which is what people said about me. Can't stifle their creativity! I now generally use permanent markers since they're bright and bold and don't fade as much as water-based markers, but I don't use them too often since I'm not really fond of coloring.
