You can also pretend like other members of WP are also involved in situation. Like a bank hold up or store hold up. They lock off the doors and tell everyone to get on the ground. The criminals put everyone in a room and lock the door behind them. It's just you and the other hostages now. How do you react?

What people say they would do and what they would actually do, I suspect, are two very different things.

I'd bore the criminals into such a state of desperation, by talking about my special interests, that they'd surrender to the police.

True, dat!

The smart thing to do in a hostage situation is to remain calm and quiet. Do as you're told, since your captors are probably armed and highly agitated.

But since this is a thread on an internet forum, and therefore a fantasy, I'll assume the kidnappers have taken me to a wharf by the sea and they've forgotten to demand that I turn over to them my ultrasonic mermaid whistle. I'll blow my whistle and jump into the sea, where a mermaid will take my hand and pull me (under water, since I'm a freediver) to a safe distance. Then she'll summon all the fishes for miles around to chew at the pylons supporting the wharf until it collapses and the bank robbers all drown. I'll then phone the bank and tell them where the money is (under water where the wharf was) and they'll give me a million dollars as a reward and I'll buy a bathyscaphe with it and discover a new species of fish at the sea floor and name it after myself and become so famous that pretty girls will clamor to come with me for a ride in my bathyscaphe to the bottom of the sea where we'll frolic merrily.

That's what I'd do if I was in a hostage situation. :)

What I would do would depend on what the other hostages are doing & the vibe I get from the hostage takers.

Kill the hostage taker/s as soon as it begins.

Tinky is back :)

I'd probably counsel them in an attempt to talk them out of it (probably unsuccessfully). The thing is that yours is not the only life at risk. Instead of threatening to hurt you they'll threaten to hurt someone else in the room if you make one false move. In a case like that your heroism better be 110% successful, and it better happen before they even get one bullet out of their weapon. Because if it fails you won't be the one getting shot. You'll be effectively rolling the dice on someone else's life.

Nope. That was right off the top of my head. Took me about 15 minutes to come up with that one little paragraph, though.

Darn it, I was tryinga be sneaky.

I just realized that I didn't put what I do. I put down 'look for food' as I become dizzy and nauseous when I don't have food for over a three to four hour period of time. Of course, I would be nervous and wonder 'oh, lawdy, what's gonna happen to us. save the woman, children, and avocados first!' Once they slam those doors, I'd be asking if anyone has some crackers or steak dinner in their pocket.

Unless you had a CCW there's not much you could do. Even so you'd likely be better off not doing anything unless you believed the captors were going to kill you no matter what.

I have no idea what I would do. Just the thought alone is very scary. Although I did read some things like don't try to be a hero, and don't have any positive thoughts about your captor because that's Stockholm Syndrome.

Wait for money to change hands then kill the hostage takers and pocket it. What, it's practically a victimless crime at that point...

I was thinking what would happen if I didn't find food and I would probably have to take a nap in that situation. Hopefully, the captors would be cool with that. Maybe they could order a pizza for me...

Everybody else can wait for the money to change hands, cry quietly, and look for the potty. Just let me nibble on my crackers or chill in peace.
