Homocidal thoughts at the doctor's office

Did you ever feel like strangling the life out of someone while waiting in a doctor's office because they weren't polite enough to mute -- or at least turn down -- the sound on their stupid video game? Let me tell ya, having to listen to that sh*t is equally annoying to having to listen to their vacuous conversations!

Yeah... been there. I have to take my mp3 player with me and try to drown out the rest of that. I do not trust people to be decent with their volume in public.

I put my music on my phone for a reason. People have a tendency to be inconsiderate or completely oblivious to their surroundings. I remember I went and chilled in the bathroom one time because I was early for an appointment. It's, of course, not just at the doctor's office. Bookstores, libraries, grocery stores, family gatherings. People just blabber on and make their loud noises.

I know exactly what you mean. That happens in most places but doing that in the waiting room at the doctor's is particularly bad.

Strangling them and witnessing their death is rather gross. When I saw a dead mouse trapped in a mouse trap, I was happy but it was still gross. I'd rathe zap them into non-existence in a non-messy manner, if such a thing were possible.

Yeah, I hate when that happens!! Another really bad one, is when you're sitting next to someone on the bus, who is playing a noisy game, or talking on the phone----or, worse yet, when they're wearing earphones, and you can still hear every word of their music.

Ear buds would have certainly helped, but I guess this guy didn't want to miss his name when the nurse called it. Oddly enough, this was an older guy who looked to be in his 60s.

I take it you mean have I ever felt like wanting to kill someone? Nah. Never had those kind of thoughts. More of a passive agressive type me. I avoid public spaces on the whole these days. Better for my heart...

Well, no I've never seriously felt like killing someone. I mean, haven't we all expressed that thought before? It isn't to be taken literally. If I truly harbored homicidal thoughts, I would see a doctor immediately.

Can't recall ever having that thought as such.
Nothing to do with taking this literally in this case although I have done my fair share of that in life which is probably why I never thought like that to start with
If I couldn't drown the sound out with my own headphones I would more likely have confronted someone rather than sit and suffer in silence and let the annoyance fester in my thoughts.

I've never wanted to kill anyone over it, and the doctor's office has not been a place I've ever heard it, but in general, people shouting into their phones in public places is annoying. I find it to be most prevalent in airports. What I hate even more is the TV in waiting rooms of all sorts. I'm trying to read my book, and the mindless idiots on the mindless idiot box are blathering away about something mindless and idiotic.

It also happens to me when I am on the bus.

I can't stand people making loud noises on their phones, but the other thing I can't stand is people biking/driving/walking around while looking at their phone. It makes me very nervous.

Speaking of having to listen to people's inane cell phone conversations, one of the things I enjoy is getting away from all that when I'm hiking. Unfortunately, it's not always the case. I was taking a rest along the AT a couple of years ago near Clingmans Dome in the GSMNP. I was having a nice chat with the father when the sun takes out his phone to see if he had any service. For the next couple of minutes, I have to listen to him yacking with his friend, arranging to get a pizza dropped of near shelter where they would spend the night. I tell ya, you just can't away from this crap!
