New glasses

As you know, yesterday marked the day I got new glasses; and my prescription got tweaked from last year's. How long does it take you to get acclimated to your new glasses when you get them? Me, about a week or thereabouts.

What are your experiences with dealing with new glasses?

I'm still not used to glasses I got five years ago! I can't wear mine anywhere but sitting still in front of my TV.

My backstory may affect that though -- I had never worn anything but contacts for twenty years prior to getting glasses. I think all those years of only having contacts got me spoiled for anything else, because when I got my glasses prescribed to give my eyes a break from contact wearing, I just couldn't adjust to the very different experience of the glasses.

I can't wear them if I have to move about. I bump into things, fall, and they were a nightmare at the supermarket. I can only wear my glasses and not get my brain freaked out if I'm sitting perfectly still such as to watch TV.

I mostly only wore my glasses to school & work & like you equestriatola it seemed to take about a week to adjust.

My contact prescription changed last year; since then I haven't been able to read the dates on tarnished coins and printed words have to be in just the right amount of light and held out at arm's length. Without them I can drive almost as well at night as long as some jackass with HID lighting isn't too close

I got a new pair the other day. Same script, just a bigger frame to cover the gaps where light can get in (I have mine mildly tinted). Just waiting for the lenses to come in.

I got a different color for the lenses (brown), so that might be something funky to get used to (probably not).

When I first got "regular" glasses, I was falling all over the place----THEN, I got BIFOCALS, and I was okay. It took me a little while to get used to having something on my face----and also, to remember to put them ON----but not too long.

My eyesight is very bad. My glasses have to be made with high-refractive-index glass to be not too think. I'm used to that type of lenses now. If I wear glasses with a different index, I feel dizzy. I don't know how long it would take me to get used to them. Maybe days? Even when I switch between different pairs with the same index, I feel slightly dizzy for a few minutes.

I find that as long as the script is done properly, my eyes don't seem to mind (now my head and the feeling of glasses on them is another matter, but I'll take that any day over contacts).
