Do you rip your fingernails off and/or use them to floss?

I admit to having done this, but it doesn't mean I'm proud of it. 13%  13%  [ 1 ]

For as long as I can remember, I have trimmed my fingernails by ripping them off and them using them as makeshift dental floss. I do the same to my toenails, although I pass on the flossing there.

Yes! One other vote (one is mine) is all I needed for validation.

I never floss & I don't rip off my nails cuz they would rip too close & hurt my finger. I cut my nails short thou cuz they break easily.

I think people who rip their nails must have done it from an early age to have kept them pliable enough. Even if my wife let me, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to successfully rip hers. After thirty-six odd years of practice, I've gotten pretty good at ripping all my nails without getting too close, but it still happens from time to time. Yet the pain and inconvenience is never anywhere near enough to make me quit.

I have in the past trimmed my nails in that way, yeah. I use nailclippers now though. When doing that it was very hard to get away the rough feeling.

But using them as floss? :eew:
