Maybe I am lucky to be around good looking people, but we all know that beauty is relative.

My question is why bother spending time AND money on this s**t? IMO, all the people I know actually look better without it on (unless they are ill, but I will be more concerned with their health than anything else). Excuse the cliché, but I think imperfection makes the person unique, stand out. Not looking like some mass-produced plastic doll.

It used to be a girl thing (historically not), but now even guys are being "indoctrinated" into these baffling, superficial things. Culture is to blame? I mean, lots of money (and suffering: people are upset because they cannot hold up to these ridiculous standards) in it.

NTs are sometimes so weird.

I think people have very different perceptions of beauty. There are many people that think faces with makeup on are very beautiful. For them it's very important to present the face in a particular way.

When I was at uni, there was this woman that many people thought was very sexy/attractive/beautiful. She had a lot of makeup on all the time and wore tight sexy clothes. However, a closer inspection of her face made me and another guy realize that she was actually quite ugly. Her makeup was successfully making her look attractive to many. And I'm sure that was her intention. So there is a good point in using makeup as far as she was concerned.

Any way, I agree with you. I prefer faces without makeup.

I had a girlfriend at school who seemed to be quite offended when I told her she looked much better without makeup on. Maybe she didn't like it that I didn't appreciate the effort she'd put into making herself up, but you would think people would be pleased to be told that you prefer them as they naturally are.

I once worked in an office, briefly, at a time when it was fashionable to plaster the stuff on to an excess and it felt more like I was working for a circus surrounded by female clowns.

I saw the title of this thread and I thought "that's what I've been asking everyone for years!"

I've never understood people's sometimes seemingly obsessive relationship with make up. I just don't get why people spend so much time each and every day practically putting on a new face when they can easily walk out of the house with the face they already have. Whenever I see anyone with the stuff plastered on I have to make a real effort to not start laughing at them.
I don't know. Maybe I'm just lazy, or maybe I just got lucky with my Italian heritage, but I'm very happy to walk down the street without a single drop of make up on my face (I just wish I could be that confident with the rest of my appearance).

I wear makeup, but not a lot. I only wear eyeshadow and mascara and lip balm.

The reason I wear it is that it's fun to buy and put on. I like the pretty colors. :D

Makeup has been around for centuries and different cultures had different ideas on what's attractive. I was watching those BuzzFeed videos that showed that a long time ago in Germany (I think), being as pale as possible was considered attractive and they would even draw veins on themselves to look even whiter. people used some very toxic and nasty substances like lead and belladonna and crushed beetles, but they didn't mention that in their videos. They also didn't mention how people in plays used to cake the stuff right on in order to make audiences see their faces more easily, but if you saw them up close they looked like something out of a horror movie.
So it doesn't matter where you live or what century you're in, make-up is just a waste of time and effort in everyday life. Apparently I'm stuck in the Victorian age when people wore little to no makeup at all. Except when it's Halloween, when I'm willing to paint my whole face white to look like a vampire. :)

I think there probably are some Aspies that use makeup too. It's not written on the label "Made just for NT's". Anyway, makeup is supposed to bring out definition if applied properly. With me, I have to have something for my eyebrows because they are thinned out and I use a powder that matches my hair color so it looks more natural. Eyeliner helps to bring out a person's eyes. I don't like mascara because it makes some people's eyes look like spider legs so I don't use it - my eyelashes are too long anyway. Without makeup, a person can look "washed out" and pale so that's where light blush comes in and lip gloss. Using foundation and powder helps cover imperfections. So if makeup is applied "naturally" then its supposed to compliment a person's complexion.

Many Aspie ladies wear make-up.

I still think that we should be able to sue women for false advertising if they look completely different without makeup.
