They might be really cool and you have a lot in common but over time they seem like their personality has changed and they're now a stranger to you.

Do they forget the past or something? Why so?

Well, people grow. They learn about new things to be interested in, and are affected by events in their lives that change their outlook. Sometimes they take on responsibilities that become more engrossing than their old hobbies. There are actually a lot more reasons to change than to stay the same.

Really sucks sometimes tho. I went back to visit some people I used to know and a place I used to live and everything is different. It turns out even a building I used to think was cool had been knocked down and replaced. I know things must change but at the same time I think WTF

There are many people I hoped would change when they got older and more mature, like nearly every other kid in junior high school. Then I started high school, where I was at least a couple years older than most other students in my grade, and it was not very likely even for the ones my age. :(

I don't think anyone would keep exactly the same personality forever. People gradually change, influenced by the environment and experience. But I don't think the essence of one's personality will change too easily once one reaches a certain age (maybe 4 or 5?). There are many people that I wish would change dramatically because they are immature, nasty and/or evil.
