what do these icons mean?

I couldn't find an FAQ so.. I suppose when it blinks that means new posts. Why are some green and others grey? And what does the black ball mean?

The following is what I believe they mean.

Blinking ones - "popular" threads: there are 24+ (or 25+?) replies to that thread.

Green ones - there are new posts that you haven't read. You can see this only when you are logged in. However, it's currently broken and even some threads that you've already read may have the green "new posts" icon.

Black dot - you've posted to that thread before. You obviously see them only when you are logged in. However, a very small number of threads I've posted to before don't have the black dot for some reason.
