Hello again.
I was wondering why all post have so many more views than they have replys and/or answers? I think it would be quite weird to just read and not reply (unless it would be about something that I have no clue about like politics or hardcore gaming).

It goes for all posts on any forum. Just as an example there are threads that I find interesting to read over but I have nothing to contribute to them. So this would add to the views but not the posts. Others where a question had been asked that I've also wondered so I check for replies. Others where the topic sounds interesting but it's full of people writing essays. Just some examples why I would read but not answer and people would have their individual reasons. Try not to worry about it, you're doing nothing wrong in your posts. Just sometimes people read and go away and think about it. I've done that many times.

Some of these posts are so long winded, I pass on them. Others sound like they may be relevant to me and actually aren't. I'm sure that 's how it is to a lot of people. Plus there are some people that are so combative that if I see them in on a discussion, I bail.

The simple explanation is that more people are interested in reading the views of others than in expressing their own.

Maybe because the opening post is not interesting. Maybe because some people are interested only in what is being said, but not so much in adding to the conversation. Maybe some people are tired of being told how stupid their posts are, or how their posts make no sense.

I think some of the views may be by bots, not real people. Like the Google bots that trawl the web.

In my opinion, people read many threads, but just don't have an immediate response.

There are times, too, that what the reader might be thinking of has already been posted, so that reader would think it redundant to post at that time.

I click on threads sometimes because the titles seem interesting but I don't really have a response, or at least none comes to mind.

In other words, it's not YOU that is the reason why people don't respond.

Let me tell you something: when I write something, nobody responds at least half the time.

Sometimes I read it but don't have anything to say. Sometimes I start reading but it's a big wall of text or I lose interest. Sometimes what I want to say would take too long to type right then and I plan on going back later to type it out.

Sometimes I want to reply to the post but I can't think of anything intelligible to say so I just stop.

Perhaps it's said well enough that no one feels they need say more?
Perhaps too much needs said and the task is too daunting?

Regardless there cannot be more replies than views.

OP: do YOU respond to every post you read?

I post a lot, and I only respond to a fraction of threads I visit.

you're ten to one views per response on this thread. That's pretty good compared to other threads on this one forum. The stickies are in hundreds of views per actual response. The non stickies are in the teens/twenties of views per response ( based upon quick math in my head after gazing the page).

Sometimes I simply don't have the knowledge/experience to be able to form a coherent reply.

And long live you active debaters!! I really respect you guys a lot!

I posted a thread which had some relevance to this a while ago:

viewtopic.php?t=286652

It's obviously only a minor factor, and seems to apply to far fewer threads now (though oddly enough, it applies to the thread I just mentioned :| ).
