My mother is 82 years old and would like to see a porfessional for a vision checkup.

It is my understanding an ophthalmologist specializes in eye diseases but also is trained in correcting vision issues while an optometrist specializes in vision disorders.

For a vision issue would it be better to go to an ophthalmologist or optometrist?

I know of a good ophthalmologist but not sure he is the best type of physician for my mother to see.

All I really know is that an opthalmologist is an MD while an optometrist is not.
