I read that some people - typically the same ones that get runner's high - also get an endorphin rush from super spicy food (see links below for details if you are curious). I don't get runner's high as running is miserable because I tend to trip over things like my feet*. But I do love spicy food and definitely get a pleasant happy feeling from it right as the sweat breaks. Especially soups like Tortilla or Tom Yum (Thai hot-and-sour). Anyone else *love* spicy foods? What are your favorites?

* I do get it from skating hard or hiking though. And yes, I fell a lot when I skated. Lucky I had those endorphins...

I can't handle spicy food; I have taste sensitivities.

Yes I keep spices at home and both offices. My wife is not a fan so I add it to food.
From hot sauce to curry, I can dig it.

I'm not a runner.
Even walking more than usual is not fun. I do spin/cycle 2 to 3 times a weak.

Hot mustard and horse radish were my first entries into spices.

I don't run, but I do get exhilarated from exercise. I really enjoy totally exhausting myself that way.

I have researched capsaicin before, and it seems that we are the only animals that seem to enjoy it. Those species that can sense it avoid it. I don't think scientists can really agree on exactly why we like it. This article suggests that it's because it's antimicrobial: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/11/1111_051111_spicy_medicine.html

I love spicy food. One of the problems that I have when I go to Asian restaurants is that they never make anything spicy enough. I usually end up with "white people spicy." To me, that's not spicy at all. I even tell them that I want it spicy, but they must assume that I can't take it.

I like different kinds of "spicy." There's the typical heat from capsaicin from chili peppers, then there's the heat from things like wasabi and hot mustard. I like both, but I'm less able to tolerate the wasabi kind.

I typically like East and southeast Asian food and Mexican food. I haven't had a lot of South Asian food or middle eastern food, though. I like many different types of condiments made from chili peppers: Frank's, Cholula, Tabasco, sriracha, sambal oelek, etc. I tend to put these on a lot of types of foods that aren't actually intended to be eaten with hot sauce.

I also like salsas, but jarred ones aren't very good. I used to make my own tomato salsa, but nowadays I'm usually too lazy. I will eat salsa by itself if it's good. I also make my own guacamole sometimes. The problem with doing that is I eat it all too quickly. I make my guac spicier than it's supposed to be.

I never got runners high but I do like some spicy food but that's common where I'm from which is south Louisiana. It has cajun French ancestry & they're known for adding lots of spices to food.

I like spicy food. I dip jalapenos into chipotle sauce for a snack.

I like spicy food, though my tolerance isn't nearly as high as it was when I was younger.

I hate spicy food to be honest, now I think about it I guess I am pretty sensitive to taste cause there's been countless times I've had chili which I don't mind but I consider it pretty spicy and people say it's only a very mild one lol. My old housemate used to make chilis and once I had a bowl and went wow what the hell did you tip into that a firework and he'd say he always makes mild ones too.

I don't like extremely spicy food, unless it has cheese in it. Cheese seems to damp the spiciness to the point that no amount of the spicy stuff is enough to be unpleasant.

By the way, some particular spicy foodstuffs, like Dijon mustard, have a "threshold" amount you can eat at once. Below that limit, it's merely spicy, but, if you go the tiniest bit above it, you suddenly feel like your head is about to burst.

The problem I have with spicy food, and really anything acidic at all, is that it bothers my stomach and throat. I have really bad gastric reflux and I suspect I have a peptic ulcer. I also get nasal drips all the time. Tis a shame.

Do you take anything for it? I have GERD(Gastroesophageal Reflux) & I take Pepcid before each meal. I cut a 20mg pill in half & take one piece before breakfast & the other before lunch & I take a whole 20mg before supper. I have a prescription for it & I think it may be double the strength that you can buy over the counter but I'm not sure. I also occasionally take Protonix which is a Proton-pump inhibitor when my GERD is acting up or when I'll eat certain food that can really aggravate it. I also been on Prilosec for a month which is another PPI & it also helped but it may of been a stronger strength that the over the counter version but I'm not sure.

That's usually the point for me when the endorphins kick in and I get a most wonderful mild euphoria...

I've been prescribed proton pump inhibitors twice and they give me chest aches. I usually use 150mg ranitidine tablets, sometimes two of them, whenever it starts acting up. It doesn't really help though.
