my friend convinced me to attempt to go to MIT in a couple of years when I return from my extended life in Japan. In order to pay for it I have been working on writing a book called "Confessions of a Problem Child" which is about growing up with AS and the funny/horribly inappropriate memories and trouble I got into, with a little mix of sarcastic philosophical crap. Written in short/chapter essay format (Sedaris-Me Talk Pretty One Day, or Scott Adams "stick to Writing Comics Monkey Brain". Some of it comes from posts I put on wp, but they will be edited down or expanded.

So... how much would I need to make to attend every class that MIT offers?

Nothing! I have heard that MIT puts all their information online, so if you just want the knowledge rather than the piece of paper then go for it.

Shiggily, I can't help with your question, but I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions myself.

How much do you expect to make on each book you sell?
And how many books do you expect to sell?

Money comes later, getting accepted comes first. Do what you can to get accepted, then worry about paying, there are always more than enough loans out there.
MIT is harder to get into than any Ivy League school.

I have no clue if anyone would even want to read it for free much less pay for it.

the real question is how much can I make before my family sues me for libel...

I know, but I have a friend there who is convinced that I could get in.

Even if I can't get in there, I can go to other colleges. It is just that MIT is to me like Disneyland is for little kids or whatever preteen girls freak out and cry over.

I'd love to have had the chance to go there, but my thing are words. Was never really good at math. MIT is more technology based of course. I went to a regular university and majored in English, Creative Writing. Sometimes, I just feel downright useless having done that. But I can't help that, even though I'm AS, I'm very creative. Honestly, I think theoretical physicists are very creative too! :)

Anyway, good luck with your venture.

If you've got a friend going there who's familiar with what it takes and thinks you can, then all the better! Have that friend write a letter of recommendation for you as well. As long as that person is a good student, it looks really good for a sutdent to say "hey, this person has what it takes to make it", no one knows better than someone doing it. Also, being female is a huge help, seriously, they try to diversify and as you can imagine, that school probably gets 3 times as many male applicants to female.

I wish I was more word inclined. Math requires a large amount of writing.

I can get the letters of recommendation from professors, bosses and the friend who goes there (he is on his PhD). I just don't think I am all that smart (I make up for it by working twice as hard) And I think I could be happy being the dumbest person at MIT.

Besides, I like to work and I am ok with working long hours. I once took 36 credit hours at college. So I figure MIT might be like that amount of work.

Something I have always wondered. Is it really hard for the general public to write? In terms of creativity I mean. Is it hard for the lay person to just imagine something out of nothing? It always comes easy for me. Though I admit at times it's hard for me to get it out of my head. But my mind is constantly moving with the worlds and people living in my brain.

A lot of times I think very visually, so when I remember things they usually come as pictures in my head.

I run in productive spurts coming up sometimes with multiple ideas simultaneously (thought I usually think visually) and the nothing for days or weeks

I also develop ideas in my sleep since I conscious dream rather frequently (sometimes around 4-5 times a week)

What is really odd is when my thought lines get crossed and for a brief moment I have the most random ideas. Like when my sister and I were talking about a book called Installing Linux on a Dead Badger at the same time she was watching the Michael Jackson coverage. The lines crossed with a rather odd visual idea of the completely missed once-in-the universe opportunity where he was re-animated to start in the best remake of Thriller evar...
