So the day before yesterday my mom asked if she could borrow an egg because she didn't have any left (I buy my groceries myself) and would buy a bunch of new ones the next day.
I thought about it and considered that it could be possible that I would want to eat eggs for breakfast the next morning, but only 2 eggs aren't worth frying and having to clean the pan, so I wouldn't be able to eat eggs for breakfast that morning.
So I said no.
Well, yesterday I didn't eat any eggs at all.
Today I wanted to eat eggs and noticed that there were only 2 left in the box...
--> She had taken one of them.

Clearly this is nothing major, but I'm still pissed at her for taking the egg because she had asked before but willingly ignored my response.
Her justification is that she was hungry and needs to eat more and that now there are eggs in the house... yeah OK I understand I don't want her to starve, but why eat the egg? There are so many other things to eat in the house and I f*****g said no... what if yesterday I had decided I want to eat eggs for breakfast? Just because now there are enough eggs doesn't justify taking one yesterday. Why even bother to ask me if I'm ok with this?
She's ignoring my reaction and trying to sweep the issue under the rug like nothing is wrong... that's what's rly pissing me off.

How would you react to all of this?
What's your take on this situation?
Can you explain this BS from an NT point of view?
Should I call police? (Pls don't answer that one)

I usually only eat two eggs at a time, once a week. But that's only when I buy a carton, which is only once in a while. I normally buy only 8 instead of 12 because I try not to eat more than 2 eggs a week and they stay fresh for about a month. I'm still having a hard time erasing all the fear-mongering about cholesterol from back in the 80's when I was a kid, and once I heard more on TV than one egg a week was basically setting yourself up for a heart attack.

But anyway, yeah, I would be upset if my mother took something from me when I told her not to. Not that she ever would, she lives too far away and can buy her own food, anyway.

I would have let my Ma have what she needed. She's my best friend and has done countless things for me, so it would have never reached the point it did in this situation. I guess it depends on what your relationship is like with your Ma.

Your mother sacrificed one of her eggs to make you.
You could have at least returned the favour.
You're a bad egg.

I thought he's joking, which is highly possibly true based on context.
Was he serious when he wrote that??

I've voted no because it's not a big deal and I think you should have let your mum have an egg! As Raleigh so nicely put it I'm sure she's done a lot for you. Having said that once she asked and got a no she shouldn't have just taken it otherwise why ask in the first place? I think if I lived with my mum I would like a relationship where either of us could eat what was there and then replace it.

Oh I wasn't joking.

@Raleigh Are you serious or not? I can't tell.

It wasn't that she took the egg, it was that she took it even though she knew that I wanted to keep it.
It's not a big deal but I still felt a little hurt that she didn't care when I tried to explain that to her.

I agree, it would have been the right thing to just let her have it in the first place.
Anyway soon after I had made this topic I told her I'm not angry anymore. :D

It was pretty obvious to me that the egg wasn't the issue but the overstepping of boundaries and lack of respect. Perhaps Raleigh's joking, or perhaps he didn't catch the underlying issue-- but I have to admit it was a good pun for the subject matter.

Your Mom has bought loads of eggs for you to eat in the past, and her adult child has just done the same for her! The cycle is complete.

Raleigh has most certainly cracked an egg joke lol, I don't think she is joking specifically about an Earthling though. :)

It was a POTC reference.

But oh well, at least I have the perfect mother's day gift idea now...
