why all this just because some kid started a website that is against the use of profanity? if you don't like the No Cussing Club just don't be a part of it.

Profanity, helps to get your point across. I mean, I don't understand why they are any different than words like acident how is damn different than darn.

In South Park they were called curse words because using them too much brought upon the curse of the apocalypse.

the people that curse and the people that don't curse are rather like oil and water, I have found.

Generally i'm well spoken... I remember an interview with Marilyn Manson when he was controversial, he's usually well spoken too, but explained that sometimes to make a point, to express feeling, swearing is called for.

it seems compared to foreigners I've known, us puritanical yanks tend to swear somewhat less and use more minced oaths than the rest of the western world at least. we use the bleep button vastly more often. on Canadian tv and radio I seldom hear bleeps.

I know how it is. Teens think swearing makes them all edgy and like an adult. Then they become adults and it becomes a bad habit. And their excuse is "it's only words", but words can really affect how you feel.

I hate the way people swear all the time, I've had to learn to tolerate it to a point just so I wouldn't go insane. Anyone who is intelligent enough with a decent vocabulary knows they don't need to use swears to describe everything.

Not long before my diagnosis I actually started swearing a lot, even using the F word. I'm not proud of it at all.

That's pretty much my view too. I've never understood the big deal about profanity, it's just a way to stress how you feel or used for effect. I don't understand why some people are so offended by them. And I think the softer versions like heck and darn just sounds silly.

Funny story: a relative hurt herself at work. Nothing serious, it was just painful there and then, so it made her curse. Her religious colleague who was nearby looked at her and had to take a break! The colleague had nothing to say to her for a while

America seems to be unique in the western world in terms of its general squeamishness around profanity. other nations tend to swear a LOT more freely than we do. and they think we are weird because of this puritanical trait.

If cursing is not necessary, I don't see the use for it.

I don't like cursing around women; and I hate to hear women curse, too.

my time with uncle sam totally deflowered my ears. I notice that people swear more than I do, but to me it is just noise, like a signal that has static in it.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with cussin'----in PRIVATE----like, I might fuss at someone on the TV, or when I had female friends, I would cuss, openly; or, I might get on a rant, when I'm alone, and cuss practically as often as I exhale----but, even THEN, I do it quietly, cuz my walls are paper-thin. I was taught that ladies shouldn't cuss in "mixed company" (men and women); and, to-this-day, I don't do that (except for, if I've known the male alot of years----like, I would do it around my ex-best-friend's husband; but, I CERTAINLY wouldn't do it around her FATHER, even though I'd known him, practically, my entire life). I TRY to be a lady, because that's what I like to do.

I don't like it when people cuss like sailors, in public----and, if a male cusses around a woman and apologizes, he gets HUGE points, from me!

In regard to the OP: I agree that if one doesn't want to be a part of the "No Cussing Club", then DON'T. For them to put someone's personal info. on the net, is really TERRIBLE!!

IMHO that dims "anonymous"' appeal to me.

I have a huge potty-mouth and can't get on-board with the no-cussing agenda. F*ck the f*****g f*ckers.

I see them, as stated above, as words that can be used to help in making a point. I don't see a reason to limit my vocabulary to exclude words describing bodily functions. Unlike racial epithets or similar; I'm guilty of having told racist jokes before, but I try not to use them. The difference being one knocks people down on the basis of something they can't control, the other provokes squeamishness based on a few strange social norms we have. Sometimes, provoking a hard-hitting reaction is even part of the point you're trying to get across.

I've been told I cuss like a little kid, that the expletives exit my mouth so quickly they don't have full time to form, almost like they've been de-voweled.
