Why is there so much debate about free will?

It's so obvious that we have it. You can choose to get in a car. If so you made a choice. However if someone pushes you into that car, you were forced in. You didn't make a choice in that case.

I thought that whale was freed at the end of the movie years ago. And then he was freed in real life, but he wanted to stay with humans. :)

The problem with 'free will' is that we can choose, but our options are limited.
You can choose anything off a market shelf, but you can't choose something the store doesn't sell.
You can choose to go right or left at your typical intersection, but you can't go catty-corner.
It's a conundrum.
Me brain hurts.
