Do you like these sweet furry animals? I like to name them as purrers and meowers (in Polish there are words such as "mruczki" (more popular) and "miauczki" (which is used rarer, both words are plural and rather colloquial, unofficial), which is funny. They are nice and cute. I noticed that cats are often liked by Polish Aspies, they are often presents in avatars in Polish AS forum (and not only Polish, in WP they are also popular...).

Why Aspies like cats so often? Because they have pleasant appearnace, nice fur? Or maybe because they have traits of character similar to traits of Aspies? I liked cats rather more than dogs (but dogs can also be sweet). Cats have so nice appearance... How cute they can be! It is really pleasant to caress these small creatures.

I like cats, but since getting dogs realized I am definitely more a dog person. I almost feel half dog myself in my nature. But I like animals in general.

I think there may well be some special connection between autistics and animals, but I do not know what it is, how to define it.

To me they have a simpler personality and are predictable, and for the most part loyal and affectionate once you know them. Very unlike the uncertainty/anxiety that comes with interacting with people.

Yes, I LOVE ALL animals----not so fond of birds, though (too noisy)----but, I ESPECIALLY love CATS!! I love dogs, too, but I don't wanna get-up at 5 in the morning, and walk one, in 3 feet of snow!! I think the reason Aspies are so fond of animals is because they're so UNcomplicated.

For me meowers are rather just so pretty. Their soft fur and small size of body may make them sweeter. Meowing and purring can be nice :) Rabbits, hares are also sweet. But cats have not only pretty body, they also emit nice sounds :) I do not know so precisely what I feel about purrers... They can be so strangely sweet...

All cats have Asperger after all. Thats why we like each other. We are the same.

My mom was calling me a "cat girl" since I was really young because I was often "acting like a cat".

Cats behave in the Aspie way... I saw once a cat as the symbol of social ineptitude on Venn diagram about intelligence, social ineptitude and obsession... Cats are rather "loners" and like to play with some objects (like balls of wool). They like milk. I also like milk. Cats like mice (to hunt them, play with them and eat them). I liked Mickey Mouse in early childhood... I am somewhat like a tomcat :) Tomcats may be sweeter for me than she-cats.

How many people here like meowing and purring?

I love it when my cats purr. It also sends a pleasant vibration throughout their bodies and it's fun to pet them when they're like that.

Plus, mine love to cuddle.

I like cats but I prefer dogs. I'm an Aspie who loves predictability, consistency & loyalty.

Hehe when I was a little kid I always got exicted when Thundercats aired and with the opening song I would run on all fours and play with the cats in my house then settle down and let the cats lay with me and on my lap petting them till they purr as I watch the show! I had 8 cats btw back in the 80s.

Cuddling of a cat may be also really sweet... Why kitties are so "affectionate" to me?

Adult meowers (especially moggies) may be sweeter than little kittens to me. Non-pedigree cats may be also sooo cute...

"Purr, sweetie, purr..."

Wie süüüß... Oh, what a nice moggy! So "simple", but so nice!

Nice discussion... About so cute creatures... What is the name of emotion which is felt when we are "excitated" by the beauty of a cat? Is it love, friendship or something other? It is "sweet" feeling, but what precisely?

I love animals but I can't stand cats. A girl I know has 5 cats and they seem to be all over the place. Even though I try to avoid them, they still bother me and don't seem to get the message that I don't like them. I'm more of a dog person.
