Although I'm no expert, I find it enjoyable to research cars. Reading consumer reports, watching car videos on YouTube, and occasional test drives on a nice day outside is a new side hobby of mine. Not exactly in the market to buy a new one at the moment, but it's always enjoyable to think and talk about.

So, just for fun...wanted to get some discussion going on this. If you choose to drive a car as your primary mode of transportation this might be an interesting topic that we can share together.
I'd like to know what you think. Thought it might be cool to break it down into a few categories. What are your favorite cars/automobiles?

A.) What is your absolute Dream car? (if money was no option)

B.) If you were to buy your next car (one that is reasonably affordable and a great fit for you), what would it be?

Here is my current....

A.) My dream car is a 2014 Tesla Model S. I like it because it is electric, no need for paying for gas or oil changes anymore. It sounds like it could give a person a better amount of independence as not having to depend on gas anymore and fluctuating prices. Plus it goes 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds. Not too bad!! ! :D

B.) Next car will realistically be another Toyota. I've had many cars over the years. My two favorites in terms of affordability, reliability, good gas mileage, and low maintenance were both Toyotas. First one was a Toyota Tercel...sold to a friend and it is still driving at over 300,000 miles. My current drive is a basic Toyota Camry...and it hasn't had any issues yet, knock on wood.

Here is a YouTube video link of a few Tesla S owners. https://youtu.be/zqZwmgvPmxk I'm still open to ideas and it's fun to think about the future and the advances in technology. What say you?

If money was no object, I would like to invest in a classic musclecar from my day, to which might include:
A 1969 GTO, a boss I had used to drive one in a dark metallic green and I used to be so envious. His was slightly jacked up in the back with custom wheels similar to this one:
Image
(The closest I ever got was a turquoise Grand Prix.)
A '70 or '71 Superbird, but these are extremely rare and the odds of finding an owner willing to part with one are just about nil:
Image
(The closest I ever got to that was a '69 Fury.)
A 1968 Shelby Cobra might even be harder to locate, but I think it would be cool to have one:
Image
(I'd probally have to settle for something like a Cougar.)
Any of the above cars would have to be equipped with automatic transmission as I don't have the coordination to work a clutch vehicle.

Nice!! ! You have some sweet choices, IMHO. The cougar would be a fun ride and aesthetically pleasing too.

Tried to learn to drive a stick with both my Dad and ex-husband...and realized it would be best for me to stay with an automatic too. Too many directions and some yelling almost gave me a meltdown, so gave up. Oh well...I'm okay with not knowing at this point. :)

That's cool. I used to drive a new black convertible VW Beetle (wanted the robin egg-blue color) and was very happy with it. Had it serviced at a special place, as those 10-min oil change places around here were not capable to doing it due to t being a VW. Oh and before I forget, it came with a solar charger cell as a backup to prevent battery from draining if lefts lights on or for sitting too long.

Anyhow, personally...would have loved to had one of the older Beetles with the engine in the back!! ! Do you like the older ones better? You could probably find some good deals on them.

I love the SUV that I have now - 2006 Jeep Liberty. I know its going on 9 yrs old, but after 2006 Jeep just messed up their vehicles with this model especially. Jeeps no longer even have the circle headlights they're known for. And this model changed the very next year by making it practically into a convertible!! I take really good care of my Jeep and hardly ever drive it (33,000 miles now) so I'm hoping it will last a long while. Here's a picture that's identical except I had to replace the footboards with chrome tubes that will never rust (praise The Lord!)

That is a wonderfully low number of miles...congrats on keeping it that way! You're right, the older Jeeps are especially sought after and were made really well. My best guess is that by you continuing to take such good care of the Liberty...it will remain a dependable vehicle. There are a few extra things that make an SUV special. Extra strorage, camping, family-sized vehicles, great if kids play sports and want/need the additional room. And really if its a 4WD it will basically drive through almost anything...small creeks, rugged terrain, and snow.

Also, you can lay back the seats if needing to pack in extra to move. I once fit a twin mattress in a Grand Jeep Cherokee Laredo and drove it to an apartment about 30 minutes away. Wouldn't suggest someone trying that cross country though, lol. My Dad is a very intelligent man and he had 2 Jeeps in his lifetime (years ago) swore by them. Solid vehicle choice.

My spouse and me used to own a '71 bug done up in "Herbie" style similar to the '63 used in Disney movies.
As it was manual transmission and only my other half could drive it, we traded it for a vintage Ford with automatic.

I also like the '57 Chevy pic. We were restoring a '63 Bel Air when some Latino dude wanted it to make a Lo-Rider out of so we ended up trading it for a 22-foot motorhome which we haven't camped in for a few years now. (Hindsight 20/20.)

A 1981 DeLorean DMC-12.

It's not a *good* car, but I'll be darned if it isn't stylish as all get out.

And I'll gleefully run over anyone who makes a 'Back to the Future' reference around me.

If money was no object, there are simply too many that I would like to own, I couldn't narrow it down to one.

I currently drive a very practical, economical little two-seater, a small diesel van, and quite like having a rather large boot/trunk, lol. The next one will have to be economical and functional, I like Toyota's too, but it will depend on the specs of the car and overall value for money. For some reason I'm slowly warming up to the idea of an estate car/station wagon.

For what it's worth, the wagon I have now is almost as good as the Saab 9-5 Sportcombi that never entirely was. Volvo's Polestar acquisition is very promising, so much so I'm considering adding a couple hundred HP to my V50.

Wow!! ! Now these are some sharp and unique cars! Thank you all for sharing pics and interesting comments.

I do think that a car can be an extension of someone's personality at times. Maybe that also means loyal and dependable are a big part of me too. Also, my Toyotas have been "practical."

OTOH, it feels fun to pine away for something fast and different. Ahh...car love.
