Thank you for sharing that with me. It did make me think of one thing. The music I listen to is very rarely the type I want to play when I fram around on my guitars and keyboards. This is close to the tempo, structure and 'tonality' I like when I get on my guitars.Love a squawlerin' guitar when I'm listening sometimes, but for some reason, never liked to play it that way......

I am struggling to learn how to play a classical guitar [softer strings/lower tension which my fingers can tolerate]. I wonder if I'm a lot slower a learner than average, as it's been a week and I'm still having a hard time forming chords.

I'm worse than the intro part played on six string in this song. And, well, Harry Chapin was just, well...Harry Chapin. Also, funny as all get out...First heard it on Dr. Demento.

you HAVE to be better than me. I feel I am all thumbs regarding the chords. it is SO HARD. anyways, harry chapin was one of those precious things god made then broke he the mold.

Yeah, truly poingant and yet also funny. The odd thing for me when I try to play (And like all of my special interests, it runs in cycles) chords are hard for me too. But I can pick, hammer and bend it ok. But, I have to have at least 6 months to get the calluses back (been two years and me fingers are soft now) and do at least that 30 minutes of structured practice every day during that time to just get back to 'bad'. It's that structured practice that drives me bonkers. I understand it's purpose (muscle memory and all) and relish that (and strain to do it), but I just wanna twang it a bit, ya know?

so many to choose from but bola sete is at the top of my life, next to laurindo almeida. something about Brazilian classical guitar speaks to me.
but I also recognize the unparalleled talent of the late great chet atkins, who uniquely could do 3 different counterpointy things with his strumming fingers, simultaneously. if it had pluckable strings, chet could play the dickens out of it.

You got that right. He was also a great influence on Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.
Since I am more into listening to Rock and it's off shoots when it comes to guitars My favorites would be David Gilmore just for his sonic genius alone and then Brian Setzer (and that guy can sing too!! !)
The thing I like about Gilmore is that he seems to have that magic of knowing when to leave out notes. Can be sparse, can be frenetic, but he could really do it.
Sorry...stopped myself before going full tilt on that......
