need some advice of dogs and puppies
hey everyone, i have a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix, shes a female named Lola and generally an awesome dog, but shes turning 9 years old this year, generally Labradors and Goldens live to be about 10 or 13 and i can see her aging, shes pretty white in the face and has hip pains often so she cant play as much as she used to.
Because of her age i want to get a puppy of the same breed, now heres the thing... Lola doesn't like other dogs, she used to live with another dog but that was some time ago, since then she attacks every dog she socializes with, Its not in a "i want to kill you" way its more of a "Im bigger and stronger than you" way. This summer i lived with my Grandfather and he has a German Shepherd (who also didnt like other dogs), they fought a lot but i remember one day they actually got along... until the German shepherd attacked her.... after that they were able to walk side by side but they couldnt play together or anything, it always ended in a fight. we stopped trying to put them together after the German Shepherd attacked my dog so bad she damaged her back.
Lola Isn't aggresive with all animals, she lives with a cat now, shes very gentle but still a dominant figure. Im wondering if i could try and get a puppy. i know the introduction steps but i have concerns. I dont think she would ever try and kill a puppy because she NEVER tried to kill anything, not even my grandfathers dog, it was all dominance or frustration, but i have that concern and this image in my head of Lola, out of no where, killing and eating this small puppy.
What should i do?

Who knows?
They might not get along at first---but you stated that you have methods which would help them get along.
She's not going to kill and eat the puppy. She's going to want to show the puppy who's the boss, though.
It might not be a pleasant situation--unless you or somebody else really helps the older dog get accustomed to the younger dog.

She might feel like she's being replaced or forced out due to her old age by the new dog.
