why do you assume that the dog is a male?
That's blatantly sexist!
Or are you calling him a b***h?
Also blatantly sexist!

I'm still working on calculating the number of board feet of lumber a woodchuck can throw (if a woodchuck could chuck wood).

it has to be the one on the right, because if there are four legs, it wouldn't be a pair of pants - it'd be a quadruple of pants.

Well, the second one looks a lot less weird since humans tend to think of the front legs of an animal to be like the "arms". Also if you made a shirt for the dog, what would that look like?

Anyway, people should really not put clothes on their pets just because it looks "cute", unless it's to protect them from the elements. If ya wanna dress up an animal, get yourself a stuffed animal or play a virtual pet game where you usually can also dress them. :)

Trousers are done up around the waist. I think you'll find a dogs waist to be correct in the second picture. The correct answer, however, is that you shouldn't put trousers on a dog ffs.

If a dog wore pants, you might want to have them wear diapers as well.

Just sayin'

:D

That first picture would leave the dogs anus exposed, unless of course said dog lives in a prison and wants to convey the signal that even though he is male, he wants to be somebodies b***h.

The left picture looks strange. Even though it covers only two legs, the right picture looks better.

I would have figured it had more to do with getting cat gut for musical instruments and other things. Especially since the words in one form or another had originated other than the US.

Various sources are vague at best, but the earliest date I have found that is consistent is 1678 in "John Ray's Book of English Proverbs". It has also used dogs and other various animals over time.
