Sometimes I notice that I avoid looking at a lot of threads simply because I don't want to wade through a million posts unless it seems like something more than half interesting. That's not to say I'm always like that, but it does happen. I think it's because a lot of times I come here because I'm avoiding work or whatever and reading every long thread about deep issues and such does not seem as appealing.

I do, too. For me, it's because it requires a lot of mental effort and patience to go through the entire thread. I am not so good with patience. Plus very long posts can be hard for me to follow, especially if they seem to go on tangents.

Hundreds of posts are usually too much for me to bother with.

I notice that only a few of the subforums here have threads that go on forever but yes I relate, probably pretty normal unless you have a lot of free time.

I've been on WP a lot lately because most of the negative aspies don't come on here anymore.

The negative aspies are the self-righteous ones who like to tear you a new one for your opinion, try to make you feel like a turd for existing, and hate you for making them waste their precious time reading your unimportant post.

When I saw their name on a thread I avoided it like the plague.

I actually enjoy reading long threads.

I do that too sometimes or I'll just read the 1st couple posts & maybe post a reply. I have ADD so I think that's part of it.

I have a policy of avoiding any thread in the PPR with a title that starts with "I Hate....".

I avoid threads that are boring. Maybe I'll post just once; but then never return to that thread.

I avoid threads that are embroidered. Can't stand the chaffing feeling of embroidered threads on a shirt.

As for here, I only bother clicking if I'm interested at all. Some thread titles are boring, or are about topics I don't care to spend any time reading about. Sometimes I click one I think I might like to read or help someone with & then am turned off by a massively long post and just click back and move on. Depends how much I feel like reading at the moment.

Who has time to click and read EVERY thread? Not me. I have tons of other things to do in real life, so I'm pretty selective about which threads I click.

That's your right as a member of WrongPlanet (or of any forum): to avoid threads you don't want to bother with.

There are certain subjects I either don't care for, or don't know enough about. I tend to avoid the threads which contain these subjects. Especially if I know I wouldn't be able to offer a substantial contribution to that particular thread.

I also avoid my fair share of threads for the reasons that you've mentioned.

i usually log on once a day, and then check out "View Your Posts"... then I "View Posts Since Last Visit" (on that one...i then only read the threads that have 15 or less posts....

I think that it goes without saying that no one reads every thread on WP!

There are whole subforums that I virtually never go to (like the LBGT) or teenagers, or kid's krater.

But even if you only go to a few forums, and only to a few threads in those forums it can still take up time.

So you learn to cull things down even more. I try to steer between the two extremes of: too boring, and the opposite: too vitriolic.
