Just look out of your window. What do you see there?
I see wars, suffering, destruction, battle for your own life.
Why it happens? If we just look at from perspective of life. On that level life procreation is the obvious answer. Peace is good and in order to achieve it we need to think what peace really is. Just by looking at third law of thermodynamics it is non existense or zero movement. To conclude it: peace is nothingness or still state.
Higher order animals (kind of, I'm using the word "high" here pretty liberally) survival is based on making contact with other and protecting their offspring. And the cycle continues. Baron-Cohen sees empathy as some kind of answer for the issue. In fact this is not a solution when we look at it interspecies perspective. Someone has to die for us. We and them kind of thinking is deeply rooted to empathy. Just look at it this way: this person makes me to relate him/her. Other issues are swept away. Empathy in its very essence is very small picture and ego driven kind of thinking. Bigger issues such how my stance on this person changes other non relatonal variables are many times forgotten.
Corruption like it or not is very relational. When relations go awry it results on dicvorces and escalates on state level wars.
The solution is pretty simple for human level: Voluntary human extinction is the solution to achive peace on human level. Paradoxically true all encompassing pacifist would shut down the universe if he/she(/another gender) could.
