Why can't the internet and real-life merge someday?

Do you think it's possible for the internet and real physical life to transcend each other one day?

I really wish we can have the best of both worlds, I'm sad to see some places become ghost towns someday because people will be using the internet for everything and not interacting face-to-face. This is going to happen in my lifetime.

But could there be a possible way to merge the two worlds of online and offline?

You want people to show their true colors and mock your autism at every chance they get? People have no filters on the internet; it shows the ugly side of humanity.

If you want the world and the internet to be one, people will act in real life like they do on the internet. Or maybe I'm not understanding your post.

They've already merged with the advent of social media, and they have far too much in common nowadays.
