If someone says you need to lose 10 pounds of body fat.....does that basically mean you need to lose 10 pounds of weight?

^ I’ve always assumed so, on the basis that it sounds like a more accurate version of the standard.

(you probably wouldn’t want to lose 10lbs of bone tissue or muscle mass... or small intestine for that matter :lol: )

muscle weighs more than fat per unit volume (per liter, per cubic inch, whatever).

So if you started pump iron you might well put on ten pounds of weight, but that would be a good thing.

This is true: if you work out targeting (gaining) muscle mass you can lose a lot of fat but not lose or even gain weight. It's much better to rely on measurements or body fat callipers if you're going that way.
